Had this in inventory and pulled it out last night for someone who is a fan of Barolo's. After decanting and sitting for about an hour it still needed a little time in the glass...but it was very good and went well with our dinner of grilled marinated hanger steak. Clearly a 90

Opened around noon in anticipation of dinner. Bottle improved meaningfully through the day. By dinner time (around 7-8), it seemed to be pretty open. Fruit was not pronounced, but was in the background. A little dusty, but not too tight. Much better with food than without.

Deep red brick in color. Nose is somewhat muted earth and truffle. On the palate there is dark fruit with some leather. Tannins are in the background providing backbone but there the acidity is too forward for my liking. Had with pasta and homemade meat sauce (cooked w/ fresh pork bones and sausage and brocciale) and a lot of the acidity went to the background and the wine improved.

Nice red fruit, slight earth, slight spice, lingering finish, agree with below - slight truffle. Nice acidity. Starting to show some secondary characteristics. Really enjoyable.

A nice mature nose of wet leaves, plum, truffle and darker fruits. On the palate this has softened considerably balancing fruit with earth in a wonderful restrained elegance. This has some serious piercing acid, wow does the mouth water! Nice medium finish too! Mature for the majority of people who like nebbiolo with a good balance between primary and secondary character.

Decanted for 45 minutes. Nice subtle nose of red fruits. Still has some subded cherries up front. Seconday characteristics on the mid-palate, good acidty on the finish that made the mouth water... mellow finish, nice QPR Barolo... Ripe and ready to go.

I took this to dinner at a restaurant over the weekend with some friends. Reddish rust color. Aromas of crushed violets and red berries. On the palate notes of plum and iron. Medium bodied. Did not finish as well as I had hoped. 89 points.

Beautiful nose of tar, licorice and cherry in the background. On the palate medium bodied nice integration of tannins and acidity with enough fruit to carry it all. Very nice inexpensive barolo. Decanted for two hours, drinking beautifully.

This wine was still extremely tannic, and almost overpowering. The saving grace was the immense acidity still present, telling me it was balanced and would last a while. Clear to sediment in clarity, garnet in color and medium color intensity. Aromas of raisins and prunes, licorice and smoked meat. High in acidity, with rough tannins, red cherry flavors lead this medium bodied wine.

[Pesto, tomatoes, pasta] Not decanted, drank over an hour. Ruby in color. Aromas of herbs, tobacco, plum. On the palate, tobacco and plum. Strong minerality. Mild tannins. Smooth. Its lighter body made me think more of barbaresco then barolo, but nice either way. Does not ne ed decanting. Drink now.

Tasted at an offline so brief comments only. Garnet color. Nose of fennel, anise, licorice (how many ways can I say the same thing?). Flavors of sweet cherries, white pepper and plum. Can be drank now with minimal decanting or let it sit for another year.

Italy 13.5% alcohol. 100% Nebbiolo from the Langhe Hills. 20,000 cases made. Purchased locally at Sigel’s in Addison for $26.99. Opened 7 hours before serving to pour 1 cup out for a sauce to be served with the lamb shanks. The bottle was then recorked and returned to the cellar until 30 minutes before serving. The cork was removed again and allowed to stand at room temperature. The wine was served in Spiegelau Authentis Magnum glasses. The color was a dusty rose at the rim working towards a clear ruby at the center. The nose was floral with some cinnamon and white pepper. The wine felt dry and very light in the mouth with moderate tannins and bright fruit. The flavors were mostly of plum and Bing cherries with a hint of earthiness on the finish. The finish was fairly long, probably in the 30-second range. 88 points. I can’t say I am overly impressed with the wine but impressed enough to maybe buy three more bottles to lie down and try later. I think this will be an early maturing Barolo. I would drink in the 2004 to 2007 range. Side note to kybo and ItalianWino: if you’d like to pick some of this up for yourself it is imported by Marie Brizard, Bardstown, KY.

Excellent Barolo. Like so many Italians, keeps a nice tannin profile well into the aging process. Great now, but still has a few years on it.
