Not ideal, but very good cellar condition have left us with some excellent juice here! The nose took it's sweet time coming around after about 60 minutes in the decanter and finally revealed the melody. Red berries, plum, aromatic cedar, tobacco and a little dust. The first sip was integrated and smooth with medium minus body and soft tannin. The fruit matched the nose, but the layers of subtle oak, leather, cigar, saline and wet granite added so much to the tune. Finish was like a good old song fade out... steady and more of the same.

Soft, elegant Napa cab now that the tannins have receded. Plum and cassis with dried flowers. Finish is slightly tart but not as dry as you expect from an Oak Knoll cab

Decanted .30, nice nose of black cherries , dark currants. The palate is rather thin & simple, with dark plum, wide berries, tannins fully integrated. IMO and based on this bottle my 6th of 8, drink soon!

The aromatics were very obvious while decanting…dark fruit and leather foretold what lies ahead. The palate experience was one of rich, thick, ripe, dark fruit…coating every crevice. A very lengthy finish of fine tannins and mild acidity. Extraordinary.

Drinking well right now. Inky garnet color. Still ample fruit, mostly blackberry and some dark cherry but this is becoming more balanced with age. Oak, sage and some savory flavors are more apparent now than the last bottle I drank. Very enjoyable but further development is unlikely.

Popped and poured with pasta. Currant, savory, sage. Full bodied, integrated tannins, good finish. Read my note from the last bottle 1 1/2 years ago and the tannins have finished integrating and I believe this is as good as it gets for this wine but it should be hold here for a while. Have no idea how long though. Suggest drinking near term.

Much better experience with this bottle than the one in March. Beautiful deep garnet color. Full of cherry, raspberry, cassis and other bright fruit on the palate. Also nice, silky tannins and some toasted oak. Drank side by side with a 1997 Trefethen for a superb definition of young vs. well aged, age worthy Cabernet.

Popped and poured for a stormy night but could have used a decant. Currant, dark cherry, sage. Full bodied, good finish. Pretty strong tannins. A nice example of Napa cab. Needed a bit of time to decant and fully open up. Loads of fruit and finesse on the nose. More cherry and dark fruit on the palate with fine tannin and high quality oak in good proportions. This wine has good acidity which keeps everything lively and in balance. Excellent concentration and a pleasant, lingering finish. Probably at its peak, but should drink well for 2-3 more years. PJP 2012.
Not quiet sure what happened here. Deep garnet color, nice hints of raspberry and spice on the nose but was flat on the palate. I let this breathe for about an hour and it just never seemed to open up. Love Trefethen cabs. Had a delicious '97 a few weeks ago that was terrific and the HaLo is incredible. Maybe this was just a bad bottle. I have three more, so will wait a year or two and try again.

This was an outstanding wine. We headed up to Maine with 3 of my buddies and had an assortment of about 15 wines lined up on the counter for the weekend getaway. I chose this one, thinking it was another Cab that I had in my cellar, with a similar label. I poured this into the decanter for about 15 minutes and everyone was going crazy about how good this wine was. This was a 97 pt. Wine Enthusiast choice but never put much faith in those reviews. However, once I realized what wine this was I was amazed as this was a fantastic wine.

Decanted for 2 hours and drank half the bottle over the course of an evening very slowly. Wine was unimpressive at first but as over the course of the evening it developed into quite a good and unique wine. This vintage could still use a year or two of bottle aging but was definitely drinkable at this stage with some aeration. We drank the other half the next afternoon and it held up very well with little change from the previous night. Will certainly continue to explore wines from this producer.

Brought for the second wine at Debbie's dad's birthday. Decanted for 1/2 hour. Dark fruit, vanilla with a medium finish in a full bodied wine. Good tanin framework. Good wine but do not see anything like the 97 Wine Enth gave it. They must have been smoking. Should develop over time and might pick up a couple of points.

I'm shocked that anyone gives this wine less than 90 points. It's got high volatile acidity, but that's well makesd by it's olivey rich black currant anise Napa lusciousness. I bitch about "manufactured" tasting Napa wines all the time; this tastes very much like what excellent Napa fruit does when it is isn't over-manipulated.

deep ruby...not giving much on the nose. Or the palate. There is a finish albiet dominated by generally round tannin and some oak. Perhaps this will evolve to a different place, if there is enough 'there' there. Recently purchased from an unfamiliar retailer. The bottle did not show any stewed fruit characteristics, orange at the rim, or obvious indications of being cooked. There were not any indications of TCA.

Green, pretty and a touch charming. Spicy green and lively. Sorry to be a dick but I just don't see it at $50. But really charming. Cool, lively, really charming. In fact, such a good wine. Popped and poured, dark fruits, chocolate and oak in the nose. Nice richness and concentration on the palate with blackberry, vanilla, chocolate and a good dose of oak. Very smooth and easy to drink.

Had this wine right after some fairly austere Italian wine, so it was hard to judge. Very rich, full, loamy with a varietally correct profile. Not real distinctive. A little oaky.

Beautiful bouquet of dark fruit and spice. The black fruit continues onto the palate with a very nice tannin structure. Went very well with a bone-in Rib Eye. This is drinking very well right now!

Loads of black fruit on the nose and in the mouth. This is a wonderful everyday wine if you can afford it. Good oak and acidity. On the nose i also get some smoky meats. It has a very good tannin structure as well.

deep ruby...not giving much on the nose.

Heritage: Hiro: Cab--earthy, tabacco, pencil lead, very good. Thot Ca Cab. Just a touch of swt leather, slight sweet tannins.

Fab bottle that is drink very well right now. Dark fruit with moderate tannin, this will last easily for 8-10 years, but is singing now. Well Done!

Silky smooth but still needs some time to tame the tanins.

Popped & poured. This wine is drinkable now but I was told it can age for a few more years. Lots of red fruit and very smooth tannins. Decent structure. Wine didn't really blow me away. Kind of unremarkable.
Style & Quality: B
Value: B-. I expected more from a $35 bottle
Overall: B

Green, pretty and a touch charming. Spicy green and lively. Sorry to be a dick but I just don't see it at $50. But really charming. Cool, lively, really charming. In fact, such a good wine. But yet so far behind the times. Like drinking moon shine with your grandfather. Fun, yet somewhat old fashion.

Nice wine, balanced and tasty. Not especially complex, but drinking very well. I think beginners would love this wine, its easy to understand and accessible. Blackberry, dark chocolate, some coffee. Well made wine with subtle tannins. Very nice with a steak and twice baked potatoes.
