Disagree with the drinking window - had this last night with homemade meatballs/sauce/penne- and it held it's own. Noted an almost effervescence like quality in the mouth- unusual but nice! Hints of licorice in the finish.

Nothing profound -- an easy-drinking wine, with sweet, ripe fruit and simple tannins. But a perfectly pleasant cheap Sangiovese, withe characteristic cherry and cola flavors. The Merlot gives a little hint of cocoa. It's obviously mass-produced, but it still makes a decent and inexpensive wine for a party.

Great tasting wine! Cherry on the nose, enters the palate acidic and sweet, finishes pretty much the same. Lots of fruit and easy drinking. Held up very nicely with Lemon Chicken Fajitas and Salad.

RUSSK Kaps only dinner in the Catskills. Not much evervescence this time. Responded well after 15min decant. Pleasant arromatics. Mouth sweet, bright and easy. Slightly cheap, ever so slightly. Good pairing with salad (lemon and olive oil and salt). LHF liked again. Might buy a couple more of the 2007.

Pop and pour - a decidedly unpleasant funk right away on the nose. I honestly thought it was flawed at first, but once these skunky, barnyard fumes blow off, the wine assumes the position and the tart red cherry of the sangiovese really comes through. I'm not sure what it is in the process or the blend, but the mouth feel has a basic effervescence. Not like Alka Seltzer bubbly, but just . . . a perky, Gamay-like quality. I really liked this wine, funkiness and all, and at only $9 a bottle it's at least worth its weight as a conversation piece.

Enjoyed earlier tonight with Kim for dinner. Not a bad little entry level Tuscan at all, a sangiovese blend with merlot features quite dominant. Dark, bright nose, young wine but not structurally made for significant aging, popped and poured, may improve slightly with 2-3 years of age but would not go longer then that. Nose of dark cherry and plum, primary flavors included chocolate, terroir, dark fruit and a hint of black pepper. A reasonable QPR at this price point.

Actually not bad, despite merlot being the dominant force initially. Very soft and smooth and uncomplicated. Just not particulalry exciting but probably not meant to be.

A touch sweet for me. The nose is ripe strawberries. Pleasant. Palate is medium bodiied, red fruits with a touch of sweetness. Seemed to pair weilll with the puttanesca sauce but, in general, too sweet for my palate.

Nice deep dark color. Earthy nose with a hint of floral. Dark fruit up front transitions to a hollow mid palate. The back end has pronounced black tea. Firm tannins, this may need a few more years in the bottle. Not bad for the price, but there are so many other options in the under $10 price range. The lack of a mid palate really hurts this wine.

I'm very impressed. A full bodied, deep burgundy colored wine with aromas and flavors that are more pronounced than I expected. A smooth, velvet feel. Great with pasta. I'm looking for more!
With Brie, very, very nice velvet berry flavors, but with harder cheeses, not so good. Best with pasta, where it belongs!

Nice easy drinking wine. Medium bodied, dark ruby. Solid nose, tho not maybe super-sexy.
Drank well, good body, lots of fruit. A bit hot - in fact if it went down the wrong way it would be uncomfortable.
Good value.
