Med weight. Earthy black cherries, plums, smooth. Beautiful structure, medium weight, long balanced palate, smooth clean resonating finish. Dark fruits, hint of red, youthful primacy but with the earth and complexity of age. Very impressive.

Tasted blind: Almost a Rhone type quality to it; smokey, great minerality, even a bit "horsey". The color had me guessing 1978 but it really had such a firm core that I think this would benefit from 3-5 years more aging.

93-94 points; very brief tasting. Beautifully ripe, pure aromas of smoky minerals, leather, various spices over aged cherry. Soft, pliant, with good mouthfeel. Very complete from what I can taste at present.
So many good experience with the Alexis Lichine bottlings from 1971. Another great pleasure to drink!

Winos' excellent adventure in France; 6/22/2017-6/27/2017 (All over France): Very complex nose displaying decadent yellow and red fruits, golden raspberry, a hint of dry cherry, strong sous bois, sautéed shiitake, a hint of soy, cola and caramel. Fully resolved palate, silky and airy and a long sous bois and delicate raspberry driven finish. A great example of ideally cellared GC burgundy.
