This had all the hallmarks of serious mature Spanish white, all the more interesting for being from Priorat. The ageing here was incredibly rounded. Grapes are Xarel-lo, Garnacha Blanca, and Picapoll Blanco.
Beautiful walnut attack to the nose, joined by sherry-like notes: dried fruit, very ripe white peach, some fig. My notes for the palate just say "exactly where it should be", a comment from another taster. It puts you in mind of a warm-but-tolerable day in sun-baked surroundings, old Spanish stone farmhouses, and a table stacked with the best cheeses, hams and breads.

Small dinner to try out a new restaurant (Mihan): Deep yellow colour. Somewhat waxy nose, fresher than the colour suggests. On the palate - candied lemon, there's real length there. Low acidity on the finish but no flab there. I think i may have enjoyed this more unequivocally than some at the table but not sure I would seek this out for the cellar.

Sample tasting at work (Oinoscent): 19.20 Decadent, glazed almond, sweet notes, ripe, candied citrus, stone fruit, dried sugar-coated papaya. Palate bright, lively acidity, fine tasting oak frame, beautiful texture, long finish. Outstanding quality 20.10 Again candied almond, bright palate, opens up, fresh, brilliant texture 20.20 Such welcoming profile, toasty, nutty, fresh, ripe citrus notes, vibrant palate, damn!!!! 22.40 Still ill (as Morrissey used to sing), gorgeous, still opens up in the nose, ultra ripe, fresh, sesame, nutty. Palate mineral, nutty, pineapple, peach, apricot, toast, full body, long finish. Outstanding effort!! Possibly the best and most interesting Spanish white wine I’ve ever had

A rather fascinating wine! Deep golden hue. Fresh, with a sense of acidity as well as the kind of savoury dryness you get to a degree in sherry. Dried oranges, a tiny amount of honey and citrus peel, a touch of almond? I really like it. There's a pepperiness that persists on the finish as well.

Brought to drink with crew at Oinoscent, bottle open 1hr before tasting In the nose, the wine shows high intensity, sweet overripe stone and tropical fruit notes, old oak notes, pastry, almond notes, some mastic notes. Palate showing intensity, mineral, alcohot warmth, stone fruit jam, oak notes, broad, med finish

Krotida Wine Trip to Priorat & Barcelona; 9/29/2019-10/2/2019: The wine is impressive in the nose and palate, mineral, nutty, oaky, full ripe white fruit, quince, citrus, lemon, a lot of body here, depth, with long finish. If given blind I’d day a white Châteauneuf du Pape. Outstanding quality with still a lot of time ahead

London Blind Challenge (Vinotecca, London.): Blind. Mid to full straw. Quite honeyed. Waxy and rich. Reminds me of La Soula. Seems to lighten a bit and show some minerality. A suggestion of classy burgundy from my left, and maybe that's not too far off the mark. Really not sure though — maybe if it's just starting to oxidise? There's quite a lot here — one to consider over more than a small blind sample. ***

'Left-field' whites (TWS North London) (Must and Lees, Liverpool Road): Superb - this ended up second on the night, behind the other wine brought by AL, for a one-two punch.

Delicious and complex. Creamy and fruity, but quite dry.
