With seared snapper, squash and black ink pasta in fresh clams, the wine welcomed the food. In good shape, different from the same bottle last month that was giving the early signs of age. It was getting to be one dimensional, though a nice dimension of racy acidity, like a highly specialized competent tax lawyer, until the last sip, when it awoke in a firestorm of flavors: had I guzzled the bottle too fast, or is the last sip, like the end of a fireworks display, always the bouquet?

Light golden, cirtus fruits and anise. Very concentrated and there is an immediately sweetness not often found in meursault which is very inviting. Very fresh with perfectly balanced fruit acid. A spicy finish that lingers. One more glass may I?

nose: mineral, bit reductive. Stoney, ripe pear palate: subtle mineral, smoky, ripe pear, gentle acidity, medium after taste. good showing. At peak now! Lafon still my fav!

During a Confrerie 2007 BYO tasting dinner, so just short impressions. No surprise on the overall vintage performance, the 2007 are mostly light and harmless compared to better vintages. TN: Fresh mineralic nose, touch of oyster, nice aromatics. The palate is quite racy. Finish a bit too short for a higher score.

Very nice bottle. Perfect age. Crystal minerality and perfectly integrated. Oak is almost unnoticeable. Lemon, line, lychee, hint of cream. Medium long finish. Fantastic!

tasted blind: I thought it was getting a little advanced on the palate. Loads of banana and a flat waxiness. Right when I tasted it I thought "must be lafon!"

La Paulée de San Francisco - The Verticals (The Fairmont - San Francisco CA): Tasting, brief note. Haven't had this wine in several years, but it is better than I recall from 2010. Lemon, lime, orange, flowers and spice with intense energy, super length and great elegance. Easily my favorite of the vertical.

Fourrier Griottes (The Ledbury, London): Mid straw. Mineral and oatmeal on the nose. Quite full and rounded on the attack, some weight here, but a nicely balancing acidity too. ****

Wine with Meals in Burgundy; 9/8/2010-9/15/2010 (Burgundy): Citrus dominates the nose with some floral charm that shortly emerged. Lemon and lime on the palate, with really crisp acidity and minerality. Lean and energetic from start through the middle, then more powerful on the end. To me, this showcases what a classic Meursault should really demonstrate. At dinner in Burgundy with the Hones and Bonneau du Martray's proprietor Jean-Charles le Bault de la Morinière and his charming wife.

Very good and still youthful. Solid showing. If anything lacking the backend complexity of a top notch bottling.

Fourteenth Annual White Truffle Dinner (Chez Weber - Chicago IL): Nicely floral start with plenty of apple, lemon and lime throughout. Great textures and length with an intense minerally finish. Very good now.

Impressions from the 2014 La Paulee Verticals Tasting (Fairmont Hotel, San Francisco): Also very light color. Lovely texture, crystallized tropical fruit with zesty acidity and excellent soil on the finish. My favorite at this table for its delicacy, snap, and current enjoyment.

Discreet citrus and some nettles on the nose. Dry on the palate, a little flat, some citrus and minerals.
