4.5 With 9 years under its belt, this Pinot noir sings. In this wine, the cool, wet vintage captures the imagination of those who value feminine Pinot. Aromatics decorously woo with dark fruits, baking spice, and hints of tertiary bramble. The medium-light weight pairs well with cool, confident acidity. Drink now through 2022. Excellent.

Not sure how to rate this wine as I believe it's flawed, but still drinkable. If I had to rate it would be in the low 80's. I noticed my last note about the last bottle I had mentioned it had a spritz and was not drinkable. I noticed other notes with similar comments. I just opened this bottle and it definitely has a spritz. There was a distinct "hiss" when my 2 pronged cork puller or "butlers thief" penetrated past the bottom of the cork (almost like a champagne). I'm watching small bubbles form on the rim of wine as it sits in the glass. It's actually drinkable, unlike the last bottle, but definitely had some secondary fermentation going. Cherry on the nose and palate but a very thin sort of watered down finish with a slight spritz.

Deep red in color with brick at the rim. Evolves over time with cherry, strawberry, herb, smoke, spice, and floral notes predominating. Elegant, complex, and well balanced. Bright and balanced despite 13.8% alcohol.

Enjoyed this wine with my handsome brother. Lots of pepper red fruit on the front. A bit carbonated at first, softened after half an hour. Wouldn't decant more than that though. Agree that it's drinking well now. Nice wine if you can find at a price point <35

If I had another bottle, I'd hold for another 2-3 years. This has matured considerably since I tasted it at the winery. Much bigger, and bolder now, with an intense nose of cola, rhubarb, and earth. The taste is also intense, with spices, red berries, and a little olive.

As it sometimes happens, I'll open my last bottle of a wine only to find that I drank all my previous bottles of that wine too soon. That's the case tonight. This wine's youthful exuberance has faded and it has matured into a delicious Willamette Valley PN. All the residual CO2 that was present in earlier bottles has resolved leaving an abundance of fairly forward red fruit that's beginning to shift towards the darker side of the spectrum with notes of cherry cola, sassafras, asian spice some earth and some white pepper on the med to long finish. Quite nice!

First night popped and poured. Good nose of red fruits, smoke, and everything I'd expect of an Oregon Pinot. Wicked acids overpower everything leaving a pretty puckering experience in it's wake. Had I stopped here would have rated lower.
Vacuum sucked the bottle and stuck it on the counter.
Night two: Wine a little warmer and certainly a little more open.
Nose of strawberries, hay, smoke, and loam.
Attack of strawberries, raspberry, and green grass. Mid palate smoothed out tremendously flowing into a nice lingering finish. Acids much better balanced this evening and overall a much better experience.
I'd recommend decanting for an hour or so before serving this.

WXTP Tasting (Brad's Place): This was probably my favourite Pinot Noir of the night. I really liked the nose here. It was very floral, with rose and violet inflections wed to sweet cherries and raspberry aromas, a touch candied at the edges maybe, but also held back by a nice hint of dried earth. Good stuff. The palate was probably the best of the lot as well, showing in a nicely integrated mouthfeel, with ripe tannins and soft acidity forming a nice backdrop for lush red-fruited notes, which were patted down on the midpalate with a touch of earth and some spicey nuances. A big wine, lots of depth and presence, maybe just a bit too much alcohol to enjoy as a drink on its own, but it was certainly not imbalanced. The finish had a touch of bitterswet roots and herbs nicely woven into the sweeter fruit flavours. All in all, a nice interesting wine. Young, but it has good potential. Again, not my preferred style, but this was rather nice in its own way.

Interesting wine in that the nose is beautiful, with cherries and rose petals, but on the palate this wine is a bit acidic, and the tannins a bit sharp. In fairness, this cork was just pulled 20 minutes ago, and I suspect there will be mellowing with some air/time. Just seems a bit out of balance right now. Tricia scored this lower than I did, giving it an 87.

Memorial Day weekend tasting (Willamette Valley/Ribbon Ridge, Oregon): A bit more integrated than two years ago. The aromas are nice and bright fruit... quite rich aromatics. It's still a little green on the palate, but I don't mind it. Some spice, briar, stems, and a little gritty in texture. Grippy and massive structure present on the finish. A complete wine, but it still needs more time.

This wine has put on abit more weight since I last tasted it with cherry cola and blackberry emerging as the primary elements with some nice earthy undertones creeping in. This is a very nice bottle of wine, but there's a subtle, metallic tang present that I personally find abit off putting. It almost gives the impression of carbonation and takes several hours to blow off. If this doesn't resolve with the remaining 2 bottles that I have, I won't be buying it again.

Found a bottle at a local store for about 40%, so one bottle accidently fell into the cart. Sat in the decanter for about an hour at room temp. A lot of green on the nose along with raspberries, white mushroom, Oregon Coast forest, and baking spices. The palate was full and a little sharp with raspberries/POM on the forefront as well as mushroom, leaves, rhubarb, cinnamon, and cloves. Some heat creeped up on the finish but a very enjoyable bottle. Fruit was not overdone. Paired nicely with lightly smoked Pork Tenderloin drizzled with ginger and Hoisin sauce.

Opened and right into the decanter for almost 2hrs, sip on opening disjointed and a little hot. After the ~2hr rest the wine was nice, dark cherries, earth, and a little oak. Medium bodied with a light purple color. I enjoyed it but will hold my other bottle for at least 2 years (2011+)

nose: nice rich and expressive nose with plush tones of red cherries, spices, red florals, and bits of wild berries. Nice depth with a very fresh feel to it
taste: pretty and smooth medium feel with good medium+ acidity and some good tannins. Balanced, and young, tones of red cherries, spices, and various wild berry tones round each other out
overall: needs a few more years before its starting to fully drink. Has a way of using the lighter stamp of the vintage and making it work very well.

13.8% alcohol. decanted. red licorice, medium/heavy tannin, good acid, light ruby color, moderate earth and spice, splashed with pepper. 1/2 estate (beaux freres + upper terrace) +1/2 composed from four vineyards of purchased fruit, including some shea. a decent blend, but doesn't hit a bullseye with me...a little too generic/lacking distinction. still, a more than decent wine, but too expensive ($59 in our market!).

Memorial Day weekend tasting, 2008 Oregon Pinot Noir barrel samples (Northern Willamette Valley): Deep, dark see through redish brown color. All these wines had this pretty, interesting color. Very pretty on the nose, showing soil, rubber and raspberry. There's some tannins present on the mid-palate, showing flavors of funky fruit, and some noticible oak. Not quite as good as the nose hinted at. There's some slight heat and not much fruit on the finish. Nose is 89 points, but overall, 88.
