Flat and tasteless, but the wine making is amazing! Let me explain, the wine is impeccable in its balance. They did an excellent job with the weak grape that they used.

i dove somewhat over-eagerly into the hearty, comfy, sturdy flavors of traditional wintertime cooking this year. anything that could be stewed, braised, roasted, pied — i pounced on it. now though, as winter's worn on, i've been thinking it makes sense to give myself a little food vacation (lacking the ability to take a bodily one). for instance, tonight i tried to replicate my favorite pizza from berkeley's cheeseboard: corn, jalapeño, red onion, and a bit of garlic — garnished generously with cilantro and lime juice (that's the crucial part, of course). take that, winter, you hearty, comfy, sturdy jerk!
so, anyway, wine's an important part of this seasonal sham. and i don't think i could've picked a better bottle to pull it off with. this wine's like sniffing right up on the genitals of late june, all deep musky perfume and tantalizing white fruits. holy shit, man. not a wine i'd want to drink often, but it's really the thing tonight.

Lots of sentimental value as purchased from last days of Village Corner closing sale. Spicy Gewurtz flavors. Just a touch off-dry with some heat on the finish.

A clean, lemon, medium intensity coloured wine. Pronounced aromas of musk, rose and lychee. In the mouth there is touches of lychee but it is all quite muted. acceptable.

Il fait beaucoup regretter le 2005 qui était si floral (la rose), distingué et suave. Avec cette "version" 2007, ce gewurz nous démontre plutôt son côté poivré. Bon, mais rien de plus.

Cellar Tasting, Hugel (Riquewihr): Tasted at Domaine. Typical gewurtz nose but lighter and fresh in the mouth. As a non-gewurtz person this is almost a bearable drink. **1/2

Tasting with Etienne Hugel: Pretty, floral nose. Great fruit, with a nice body. Tasty stuff. Not very high acidity, but it works with all those gewurzy flavors going on.

A pale yellow typical Gewurtz, pleasant with floral notes but without complexity, to drink as an aperitif, or to pair with chinese food.
