Much better than most mainstream Champagnes for a fraction of price. There you are paying for the name, here - for a complex wine (both aroma and taste). Not overly dry. Perfect with scallops.

A: too dark to see in bar N: too cold for nose P: dry, medium (+) acid, medium (-) alcohol, medium body, medium intensity, medium finish Lemons, Orange pith, grapefruit skin, Granny Smith apple, good green almond and wet stone. Not austere but beautifully dry. C: made for early drinking. It's a Goodun. Could drink your body weight of this one. Very good quality wine.

Elegant and complex. The nose opened over the course of an hour from bright, tart green apple and lemon cookie, to reveal more of the Chenin's dried flower and honey-nut character. Smooth and persistent mousse with refreshing acidity and a clean finish . A gem at this price point.

Another impressive showing. First glass had the alcohol not very integrated. But by the last glass after an hour or so, this was really shining bright. Crisp lemon creme on the nose; lemon and cherry flavors, good finish.

Moderately bubbly; aromas of apple, yeast; flavors of apple and orchard fruits; nice length on finish. This is simple in a good way, the flavors and aromas at hand are very distinct. Quality stuff and much better than a few Champagnes I've had recently. Elegant packaging as well.

Bubble level was low on this bottle and while the fruit was still fresh peach and creamy with hints of almond. Overall, it was less exciting than previous bottles.

Whether you drink it in a limo, in the bath, in bed, or more simply before an evening meal, at the price I paid this represented one of the best deals in sparkling wines around. Sadly I fear I may never see it again, such are the vagaries of supply. While lacking the full zest and toast of the real Champagne, it affords more interest, depth and complexity than your typical Cava, which I would say is the next best thing.

Popped one of the remaining two in honour of Dulcie's birthday as a brief aperitif prior to setting off for Courtrights and more enticing fare. Pale straw and ebullient effervescence, bright and yeasty, orchard fruit, by no means complex but by no means uninteresting; would buy it by the bucket at this price.

Another product of the late Sams take-over by Binnys in the discard pile. Initially reluctant to pull the trigger on no info now regretting I didn't buy them all. You are not going to get a better sparkler than this for the loot, and I'm including all the Proseccos and Cavas good though some of those can be. This has a light greenish straw and an initial big fizz (rather coarse compared with the regal fine bead of a good Champagne); the nose is toasty and yeasty with some orchard aroma, on the palate, biting apple and citrus, with some toasty component, very lively and bracing.

Clean, crisp and delicate. Apples, pear and toast on the nose. On the palate apple, pear, hints of citrus. Tight small bubbled. Great for the price.

This is a very nice cremant from the Loire. Very close to the quality out of champagne at a fraction of the price.
