Very nice drop. Gave it 2hrs+ decant & needed all of that. I feel like it might be better with a few more years in the bottle? I’ve drunk plenty of amazing bin 28 at 20yrs+ age. Maybe this could be one too?

An old favourite. Dark colour (the capsule is totally stained). Dark berries soy and boot polish. A little bit of undergrowth. Dark intense fruit with tannin quite assertive from the get go. Some secondary characters of tobacco and Old Gold dark chocolate. Nice Bin 28 groove. Old school. Good effort

Very light on in development of any real aged notes. While not disappointed it did not deliver for 14 years in the cellar. Not holding out for the next bottle.

Had 2 bottles last night of this wine. I like it a lot. Dark fruit. Typical Penfolds. Open up very well. Not too full bodied. No rush yet to drink. Its on a nice plateau.

Pretty disappointing. Lots of tannin and not much else going on here. Some dark fruit on the nose, but pretty simple. Can't see this getting any better. Probably on the downward slope. Clearly a wine from an inferior vintage.

This is a really well made wine, drinking nicely right now. However, it is too big and extracted for my liking, and the heat from the alcohol is a bit too much as well. Lots of dark berries, smooth, polished...but not very interesting for me. I did really like the fact that the fruit isn't very sweet, and there is some acidity (added?) making it somewhat balanced.

Deep dark plum red with burgundy hue on the rim. Dominant nose of vanilla oak, fruitcake with slight nuances of plum, grape and tobacco. Further notes of peppery spice, typical for shiraz. Slightly sweet on entry, medium to full body, silky smooth with an evenly weighted flawless transition. A pronounced backwash of mouth-coating tannin follows leading into a long, semi-dry, slightly vegetal finish. This wine is still young, full of potential & could do with half a decade more cellaring.

First a correction: This is Bin 28, not Bin 25 as erroneously stated in the software.
Translucent garnet color beguiling sweet nose but a bit one dimensional. Sweetness continues on the palate, good tannin grip and good length. This wine needs a good bit more time to show its full potential.

I had a faint but not a serious thought of saving some of this as a birth year wine for my daughter. So I thought I would try this wine over the course of a week to see how it held up. Dark colour - almost opaque at the core - to ruby at the rim.The nose is currently quite oaky (american?), with a lot of black and blue fruits as well as licorice - essentially what you would expect from penfolds. A full bodied palate was very smooth and luxurious, but had good balancing acidity. Day two - hmm - not looking good at all, very awkward - spikey acidity, oh well, this these 07's won't be kept more than a few years. Day three, dramatic improvement - better than on opening, still vibrat, yet more integrated. THis trend continued, and I consider the wine was at its most complete on day 6! Day 7 - OK gone downhill now. So I look forward to more tasting notes on the remainder of this case over the next 20 - 25 years.
Interestingly, I noted a previous review rating this 87 also, and commenting that it was awful QPR. Having rated this the same score, I actual rate this as very good QPR for a wine I think will age, and I think will get better. (I paid £5 - but even at double, I would rate it good QPR)

Good colour. Nose seems a little tight, but smells the goods with plums and raspberry and a touch of milk choc/vanilla. The flavours on the palate match the nose and there is some nice, slightly green tannin. I think this has the balance to age. Hint of raspberry tang to the acid. Good length for a three-year-old. After an hour tasting it (also with food) I feel this could be a good Bin 28. My only worry is the lack of any truly spicy character, but I think it might be lurking, still wound, in the background. Decided to get 6 and leave for 3-4 years before reassessing.

Good wine this from a 'lesser' vintage. Typical Penfolds oak and good blackberry/ dark plum fruit. Not a thrilling Bin 28 but not too shabby either.

Fruity on the nose. Tannin was very aggressive when open. Air for 30 mins. Medium body. Special Spice Taste and medium finish. Medium - low Acid

Wine-Ark Cellar Club Tasting 2 - March 2010, Aurora, Audrey Wilkinson and Penfolds (Roof Terrace Australian Museum): Nose: Perfume, dark berry fruit; perhaps even cassis
Mouth: tannin, plenty of it and chewy and rough to boot but this offering has more fruit than the Bin 128, needs at least two more years to calm down.
