Arms Reduction Dinner (Meritage, St. Paul): Medium dark red color. PNP, drank 1+ glass over 90 minutes. I thoroughly enjoyed the nose here, definitely a notch above the palate. The nose shows nice secondary characteristics, dried earth, porcini mushroom, pretty red fruits, cinnamon, and complex spices. The palate is a bit lean, with somewhat firm yet fairly fine to medium grained tannins, red fruits, spicebox, wood, and a medium minus finish. The nose gets even better with time, but the palate never really gets a lot better, though I sense a bit of darker fruit later. 90+ to 91pts.

8 years ago I tried this and commented that it wasn't worth drinking at that time. Well I can say the same thing right now. The nose is off putting. Stinky, mushroomy and woody. With nothing subtle about it. Weird meaty flavors. I did not like this but to be fair, my wife did. For my tastes, I don't see this improving. I do have another bottle that I'll probably just leave buried and open as an experiment some time in the distant future.

Very vegetabley and earthy. Opened more and more over the course of a few hours. The finish lasted for over a minute. Very impressed, but what you can expect from m. Vlossak.

After 6 or so hours open in the bottle, what I thought was mild cork taint seems to have blown off and some more fruit has emerged on the palate. I don't think it's got enough stuffing to outlast the still significant tannins, but it is certainly drinkable. Judgment for now is to let this one rest 2-4 years in hopes the tannins will resolve some more, but eventually the fruit will give way and this will dry out. I'm going to leave it open and see what development, if any, takes place over the next couple days. Will update if necessary.

Drank this in combination with an 03. This was the loser. But although we are just learning about slightl aged pinot can find the quality in this. Thinner and more acidic also more earthy than the 03. But stilll enjoyable to say the least. Had it with filet mignon covered in porcini. What a compliment. Nice to know what this tastes like. Bought off the shelf, in perfect condition, today at Fred Meyer.

Tasted from magnum at Bandon Dunes, it had classic color: garnet to the rim. Ripe cherry, cola, earth, and spice notes evolve over time. Nice acidity and balance, has got a couple years left at least from this size bottle. Was great w/ salmon...

Deep red color almost purple. Nose is a bit austere; there's fruit there but it's not screaming out. Medium weight with a bit of tannic punch and a lot of acidity that didn't seem to settle down much over the course of an hour. Finishes a bit hot and harsh - we'll see what it's like tomorrow.

No Score…Very tannic and out of balance. Nose of roast meats and bramble. Not sure what it will be like in 10 years but not worth drinking right now. Gave two hours of air time.

Memorial Day weekend in Willamette; 5/30/2004-5/31/2004 (Willamette Valley OR): Tasting at winery. Good red and black cherry flavors but hidden behind way too much tannin for now. Good fruit concentration, acidity and tannins assure a long life but it's hard to tell where and when this will emerge. So i think there is upside potential but it's quite uncertain and in the distant future.
