Profound. Red with hints of violet in the rim. Strong bouquet with the complexity of the terroir. Hints of cassis, tons of glycerin. Can integrate better.

Beautiful and elegant, took 90 minutes to open up, at about 18-19 degrees Celsius. Restrained nose, some dark fruit and cassis on the nose, tannins still present but the fruit sweetens on the mid palate, nice and long. Lightly spiced, but classic. Better than expected, seems to be coming into its own.

(Blind tasting) A bit mute at first. But then opens up. Cassis, liquorice, oak and an elegant perfumy edge. Perfectly mature palate. Generous and quite soft style. Black currant, cedar, some violet hints. Good grip, but with a slight green hint. Perhaps lacking a bit stuffing. Very good now, not for further cellaring.

3 hrs in decanter. Cork perfect. Dark red colour, still dense, not much sign of bricking. Medium bq w tobacco, cedar tree, leather, slight touch of dried dark fruit. Nice rounded tannins, acidity slightly low, hint of blackcurrants. Fairly long aftertaste, very balanced, velvety finish. Peaking now, but will last a few more years. This wine is a perfect example of what it is (sic!) - a very well made wine, typical of its origin, very nice to drink, elegant - but still a long way behind the Chateau Margaux!

still quite youthful and need time to develop, well balanced but wish there was more fruit, otherwise quite classic margaux. Deep color and little bricking, drink now or keep a few more years.

This wine was bought over a dozen years ago, soon after release. It had been in a cool cellar. The wine had a pencil and leather bouquet. The color is very deep and without much of a tile edge. It looked and smelled very youthful despite many hints of maturity. The complexity of this wine is mind-blowing. On the palate it is absolutely and impeccably balanced. The wine had leather and cedar with underbrush and lead pencil. There is also dried fruit. Acidity is low-ish which added to the impression of lushness. This wonderful and broad-shouldered wine is perfect now and will hold for at least another half a dozen years. It is giving an incredible amount of pleasure. Too bad I am out. This wine tastes a lot like a first growth to me and not a second label. This wine has been kept in a very cold cellar.

Purchased out of curiosity and also to compare against the 1st wine.
+ Nose - dried fruits, wine gums, some cinnamon, marmalade + Taste - quite round, dusty, a hint of fruit, plain + Finish - still some fruit, very short and boring
Clearly this is still drinkable, but its strong points have long gone. The only thing still enjoyable was the flavor out of the glass.

beautiful bottle. Open 30 minutes before consumption. Very well balanced, has lost the acidity that plagued it three years ago, some remaining fruit, beautiful mid palate, excellent tannins. Drink now with meat to round it up.

Notes of florals, currants and a hint of spice. Red berry and floral notes of the palate. A bit thin through the midpalate and finish. Very pleasant though.

Nez superbement expressif et complexe, tabac, fruits rouges, canelles... Bouche avec beaucoup de fruits rouges tanins très fins, mais encore présent, un peu court. Mais tout de meme une très belle bouteille.

This bottle was very nice. Elegant, with full fruit and well balanced tannins. I took my own advice to "drink up" after having a slightly off bottle of the same wine last night. Turns out the wine was fine, it was just last night's bottle that was off. Oh well.

- Garnet color with medium forming legs. It's somewhat balanced with a light/medium body. Smooth texture with a medium finish - Drank 5/10/13 after full dinner of lamb and greens.

Drunk at a nice point of its evolution. No hurry to drink but tannisn have mellowed a bit to give a prime example of the elegant Bordeaux style for which Chateau margaux is known. Cabernet is quite prominent, but some meaty notes confirm the considerable Merlot content. Nice length and very fine tannins. Highly enjoyable - but at the current prices really questionable whether it is worth drinking or selling...

Opened and decanted on Xmas 2 hours before prime rib dinner. Finished the magnum over the next 8 hours. Upon opening, very closed and tannic. Still somewhat tight 2 hours later, but then softened and opened beautifully. Medium body, silky mouthfeel. 5 hours after opening, it finally revealed all of itself. Nice floral notes and a long, beautiful finish. Drink now.

Very dark. Meaty nose with a slightly green component. Medium-bodied and well-integrated. Dry and smooth with lots of fruit concentration. Preserved fruit, plums and smoke. Long finish. Just peaking now but should last quite a few years. Beautiful wine.

Classic garnet red color. Very pretty, floral nose with hints of cassis and cigar box. Palate seems evolved, soft, and silky. Although the texture and mouthfeel of the wine is nice, the finish is rather disappointing. Not clipped...just nothing there. All in all, very enjoyable and imminently drinkable, but I think this wine has already peaked and there is nothing to gain by waiting to drink it. 12.5% alc.
