  • Second bottle of this wine and it's consistent if not even better. Coffee, spice. Aged 16 mths in French oak.Lots of plum and cassis. Pepper on the finish. Lovely bright red wine. If you can find it...buy it.

  • Mourvedre through a new-world lens. Has the leathery/tobacco notes of a Bandol, but they're playing second fiddle to some lovely plum (and other dark) fruits. Nice structure, but falls a bit on the finish; doesn't move much on day two. A big, juicy wine that plays well with food, but could also be sipped alone. A great value at the close out price, I'd probably go old world (for my tastes) at full-boat retail. Don't get me wrong, though, this was tasty.

  • Wow. This is a red-wine lovers find. It's got plum, coffee bean and black pepper and is zippy. The 2007 vintage is from fruit sourced from Coyote Canyon Vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills area of WA. Only 225 cases produced, so if you can still find this, get some and try it. A wonderful red from a great producer, Syncline. Delish. Even better with food.

  • Lovely dark color, peppery nose. Mouth: cloves & pepper, pepper, and more pepper. My second bottle of this wine, and I don't remember the first being nearly so spicy. Too one-dimensional?

  • nose - overwhelmingly of fresh crushed pepper. Also clove (per Brian), dark berry (lisa), tobacco (Miguel) with a hint of coconut (Miguel)
mouth - dark cherry and lots of peppery spice, with a hollow midpalate, and then a long low level tannic presence on the finish. This wine screams out for red meat.

  • The best example of this varietal that I've ever had. Dark, inky fruit bomb with the tannins a little grippy on the end. Left 1/3 of the bottle simply corked and had the rest 2 days later. Had not lost much. Still a lot left.

  • nose: beefy nose with lots of black fruits, black cherries, anise, black licorice, dark spices and some bits of meaty tones lurk in there. Good balance to it with a more plush style on the nose with some good depth

taste: really good medium/full feel with good silky tannins and darker tones of black fruits, black cherries, bits of meat, and dark spice tones. Well balanced and has a real good plushness to the feel

overall: A very interesting mouvedre. It shows off the funkiness of the grape, but also has a new world fruit side to it as well.

  • Just as Colvin (alas is gone) produced a fabulous carmenere, Sycncline has a wonderful rich mouvedre setting a bench mark for future producers. A great bottle of wine!
