Pnp. Still a fairly dark garnet with a translucent rim. Despite the hot 2007 vintage and the noticeable Syrah in the blend, this has very good freshness and the fruit is not overripe or burned, nor are there any oxidative signs. On the less positive side, the wood is still noticeable after 13 years and as the fruit is obviously on the retreat, this is at risk of drying out given the medium tannins. Fairly short finish. Overall nothing too complex and a nice midweek Pizza or Pasta wine, and well done by Antinori in dealing with the 2007 heat.

Consider decanting this wine for a good hour. A dense nose of ink, wood, licorice. Mid-to full bodied, this bottle proves to be a wholesome relative of the Guado al Tasso family, combining elegant oak, chocolate and cedar aromas to a complex, seducing palate with lots of sweetness and silk. Cora-wined it on the first day and opened the next day to a lamb filet, where this wine clearly felt „at home“.

Still pretty dark in colour - earthy, savoury nose, spices, tobacco, dark fruit. On the palate powerful and rather smooth, great fruit, slightly sweet with good acidity and great grip. Medium finish. Very nice. Drink over the next 2-3 years.

My second bottle of 3 and it has been 2 years since my first bottle. Consumed in a small cozy open kitchen restaurant thus I can't really tell the aroma of the wine exactly. What I recalled was a bit of leather and cherry. Taste has noticeable red fruit. Tannins from my bottle was very soft. Finishing is good with hint of menthol. Wonderful price, and an excellent choice for a dinner wine.

Sad that this was the last one. On opening, a great wave of fruit. Over the evening (thankfully I wasn't sharing it) deeper and richer notes. This is a very good wine for the money, but would I buy more now to drink later? I think not. Farewell Bruciato 07!

Completely different to previous bottles, this is now mature and ready to drink. The earthiness is gone and this is now a mellow, zingy, fruity wine. Up front, this smells quite unpleasant with a hint of second-rate fruit and too much acidity but in the mouth it is full-bodied with notes of cranberries, honey, blueberries, coffee and spice. Despite the approach, this is a quality wine which merits a solid 91.

This wine has come of age. It has the typical nose which starts off dank and aerates into a deep fruit with oak and smoldering ember nose. Earthy with smooth cask oakiness that isn't overdone. Good length to boot.

Cab Sav, Merlot, Syrah. The Syrah is really dominant on the nose and it contributes a roasted meat quality that I just didn't love. I have finally come to realize that I'm not a huge fan of supertuscans with Syrah. Nice acidity and well integrated tannins. Night 2 update: wow, this is much better tonight. The meaty quality is gone and this tastes Bordeaux-esque. Gooood.

Heavy cavalry knights on sweaty, big black horses. This is the nose. It's dark, powerful, animalistic, Italian. Somewhat evolved, ripe, with dried plums, coffee, spices, and Cabernet paprika. Full bodied and dense, but with good acidity and high tannin. Tasted two years ago, it evolved a lot since then.

Dark fruit, menthol, butterscotch, vanilla and oak on the nose. Medium to bold legs with deep purple color to the rim. Cherries, dark fruit on the palate with mild acidity and spice. Finish of spice and acidity with dark brooding fruit almost stewed like. At the end of the finish it was dry and tart with raisins and prunes dominating and a good bit of terroir.

Previous tastings of this, as little as 6 months ago, have shown it to be going through a tough phase. Tasting it this week it might just be coming out of that phase and developing nicely. It isn't Tignanello but it isn't priced the same either - and it's good competition for Le Volte of the same year.

Very Bordeaux like. Syrah spice. Dark purple to the rim. Dark chocolate, mocha, blood, musk, alcohol, pepper on the nose. Spice and acidity on the tongue. Agressi e tannins with a dark fruit, cherry, black fruit finish, allot of spice and pepper.

Popped and poured. This showed much better than the previous bottle I had in March, and luckily was not displaying the overwhelming funkiness upon opening. Dark dried fruits, black plum, and lots of earth on the nose. Similar palate of prune, leather, cassis, yet with some red plum adding some welcomed tartness. Medium bodied, but not a lot in the way of tannins, or much of anything on the mid-palate for that matter. Medium+ acidity, with a medium- length finish. Drinking fairly well right now, this should hold for a while but I don't see it improving much. Good.

Just horrible. I can appreciate a good dirt-bomb but this wine tastes like mud made from dirt and tomato juice. The nose is closed with most dirt. In the mouth it's very green with mud and other minerals. Finishes awkward and hot extremely hot.
Strong unpleasant aroma of bandaid/brett on the nose immediately upon opening. Decanted for 2.5 hrs, which served this well, and blew off a lot of the funk that was first present. Nose dominated by plum, as well as some prune, sour cherry, raisin, and nutmeg. It came across a touch thin, showing black cherry, tart plum, black current, licorice, and some spice on the palate. Medium finish, with a bit of lavender at the end. Very Bordeaux like, and an enjoyable wine that was much better integrated after it had some air. Not sure if the brett is always this evident, or if it was just this bottle, as this was my first time trying this wine.

I hate to do this but I tasted this at the wine shop with the wine manager and friend. Before we knew what happened it was gone. So, I agree with Benji, Jochems and Fleur. I never usually quote others but I think in the absence of my own notes they express what I had. Regarding the nose...very Bordeaux...about the herbal...very Alexander Valley like. In fact, I thought it was very Jordan'esk in that the Syrah brought out the pepper notes I get from Jordan Cab. Anyway, VERY good wine at this pricepoint and the funk, etc. blew off after about 1 hour and it just continued to mellow and yield beautiful dark fruit, mocha, vanilla, etc.

The nose on this wine is very interesting to me. It’s sharp and intense with extremely defined terroir. I get a somewhat weedy, brambly component with wild greens, herbs, and sea weed. There is also some very dark berry tones, a heavy minerality, and a touch of clove-like spice. On the palate this wine opens with sweet, spicy notes of vanilla and strawberry cream. There is a hint of dried cherry and I get quite a bit of pepper with just a touch of the green, brambly tones that I picked up on the nose. There is also a strange hint of a floral/plant like note tied in there that makes me think of thistles. This wine is really well structured with firm dark tannins and sweet and juicy, almost creamy, fruit. It’s smooth and has a great density about it that make it very impressive. The Antinori family strives for elegance in their wines, and I clearly detect it in this one. This is a solid buy for the price and I would say that it outperforms a good number of Cabernet based wines from Bordeaux and California. If you like well made Bordeaux blends, you might be surprised by this one. This is definitely a wine worth trying.

This tastes exactly like I expected it to, which was very comforting. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot & Syrah, it tastes, well...like a blend of those grapes...plus acid. Very Italian, very food-oriented (the acid on this really is high!). Could probably do with a few years to calm down a little. 88 with room for improvement. Not pleasurable to drink without food, mind.
