Medium ruby, edging towards garnet. Nose of sweet blackberry, black raspberry, black cherry, black licorice, tomato leaf, wintergreen, minerals, vanilla, incense, and tar. Round and very smooth, with flavors of juicy black raspberry, black cherry, tobacco, anise, and tomato leaf. Went well with chicken marsala and especially well with smoked cheddar cheese.

Ok, this wine is really singing now. We opened it about 5 hrs ago with dinner, then met up with some friends after and now home to finish it.
Nose is replete with currant and ripe cherries, accented by spice and earth notes and a slight hint of apricot? Palate starts with a mouthful of bright red fruits, followed by espresso and finishing with an unusual apple juice note - Honeycrisp?
Lovely wine, sad to see it end, wish we had more - need to plan a Napa trip and revisit Darioush!

Needs air, let it rest several minutes before indulging. A beautiful red wine, dark, dark ruby in appearance. The nose is black fruit, floral, white pepper, tar, and box wood. A full bodied fruit forward experience with a supple full tannin finish and good length. Great with the fine food at 38 Central for lunch today

Deep reddish purple. Opaque. The nose shows massive blue and red fruit. Full bodied and fruit heavy. Much better than the Cab and Shiraz from this producer, but this still is dominated by new oak and a viscuous texture. This eschews many of the charming characterisitcs of Cabernet Franc. Tannic with a long finish, this shows a bit of acidity.

Pizza with Brian and Karen (Ann's, Avondale, PA): This is really tasty now but could use another year or two of rest. Lots of dark fruits, chewy tannins and vanilla with a little bit of bell pepper. It really didn't change a whole lot over an hour or two. Wish we had more.

A very good wine, the best cab franc I believe I have ever had out of Napa Valley. Enjoyed earlier tonight with dinner with good CT buddies neighborbill and sidboy - just a very big, bold and dark wine, full bodied especially for a cab franc and long lingering aftertaste. Opened for about 2 hours prior to consumpion and would definitely decant this wine at this point in maturation. Nose big, bold and very dark with laced red pepper and dark stone fruit. Primary flavors much darker then anticipated with some earth, granite, dark stone fruit, leather and pepper developing late on the palate. Really highly recommend this wine even though it is too expensive to be any kind of a reasonable QPR.

Black raspberry and espresso aromas followed by violets. More oak than many Cab Franc we’ve had lends to heavier structure and tannin, but likely to be more age-worthy than typical domestic Cab Franc as well. Really enjoyed the 2006 vintage from Darioush after a couple of years where quality didn’t warrant the prices.

Tasted at winery – medium ruby, clear. Nose of vegetal, dark fruits and coffee beans. Dark and tart flavours similar to the nose. There’s a pleasant greenish to both the nose and palate. Medium body, high tannin and acidity with a long finish. Needs time. Very good. 89+

Very nice. Black cherry and blackberry fruit with a big burst of chocolate. Not your typical Cab Franc here, very bold.

Great weight for an 8 year old cab franc. Great structure and fruit, especially for napa valley fruit. Still has a couple years to go to peak.

much better than my last bottle several years ago... just needed time and some air to take the edges off. Very nice with steaks.

Sharp nose of dark fruit, with tart cherry and blackberry on the palate. Short, acidic finish.

A nice, tannic mouth feel, but a too thin finish for our liking for a relatively "big" red. Went good with pizza.

Needed the overnight to open up - which means it could probably last another year at least.
Nice nose and chewy tannins.

Tour - Napa / Sonoma 2009; 8/25/2009-8/29/2009 (Napa / Sonoma, CA): All three wines tasted at this winery were enjoyable and similar in quality. This wine may still improve with some aging. Tasted at Darioush winery on Napa / Sonoma trip.
