First time I've ever drank any David Arthur. Tale of two nights. First night decanted and let breath three hours, then drank 2/3 of the bottle over the rest of the evening. Tannins never subsided and never tasted anything good. Second night (under pump) whole different story. Soft, tasty, deep, what you want from high end cabs. Guess that means maybe wait another five year, or decant/breath for 10 hours before drinking.
All the recent testing notes describe this wine pretty well. A little story on this one. Won this bottle at auction a few months ago and wanted to try it. At first, seemed to be just a bit out of balance with the acid being a little noticeable. Decanted for thirty minutes and this turned into an amazing bottle. I got a hint of blueberry, blackberry, spice box and a faint hint of chocolate on the palate. Wonderful bottle and in the end great QPR for what I paid. This turned into an exceptional wine given what we also opened. Sadly my lone bottle. I look forward to trying the 13 that I also have in 8-10 years.

Menthol and eucalyptus on the nose. Super amooth but not heavy. Plums, blueberries and some licorice. This is perfectly balanced and very easy drinking. So delicious

Agree with TexasBob tasting notes. My first impression - 45 minutes after slow-ox in bottle was" Good, not very good and I may have missed the drinking window. Left alone in glass for another 30 minutes and it was singing. Kept getting better over next hour. Full bodied, blackberry, anise, full 30 second finish. Beautiful Pritchard Hill wine that really showed the staying power of the 07 vintage. Plenty of life.

Dark, placid red, very pretty. Menthol and red fruits on the nose. Notes of eucalyptus, red fruits, and aggressive acids with some chocolate on the finish; blueberries and tartness in the finish. Really delicious; gifted for my 40th and signed by the winemaker.

Deep dark reddish-purple in color. Nose was initially reticent but it eventually developed with decanting and extended airing into attractive & fragrant aromas of ripe fruit aromas of dark cherries, blackberries & cassis with overtones of earthy/dusty & spice notes, a hint of mint, dried herbs, dark cocoa with vanilla & toasty oak in the background. Full bodied with a very good concentration of balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of dark cherries, blackberries & plums with earthy, mint, cocoa, dried herbs, minerals, vanilla & toasty oak. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with necessary decanting and extended airing, but should develop further with additional aging. A massive wine.

A massive wine. This was clearly to early to open this up, especially without much time to come to room temperature from the cellar. The concentration is immense and the fruit is beautiful but the tannins are still brutal and extremely tight at this stage. Needs another 10 years to come into its own but I believe it will evolve into a gorgeous wine

A bit closed at first, but after decanting showed a full body and complex flavor profile, including dark cherry, currant, cocoa, and oak. Should get even better with age.

Took to a football watching party; unfortunately no decanter. this was excellent with a lot of potential; wish I had brought a decanter. Big black fruit, nice tannic backbone in the background, and what I think is a nice balance of oak and spices.

David Arthur Seminar with David and Bob Long (Binny's Lincoln Park): Wanted more here as a whole. The regular 08 estate cab eclipsed this 07 in my book. The color is more rusty and less purple. Lovely nose. Little less candied and more cherry spice driven. Some heat on the nose though. A little shut down at the time of consumption. The structure and promise is all there however - great fruit, strong mineral core and an elegant finish. Much better palate than nose in this case - which is rare. Resolved tannins, again a little sweeter styled. Long finish. Lower acidity and a little hot. Wonder if this will come around. Save your loot.

Not the best of the 1147's that I have enjoyed over the years, but certainly delicious. We decanted for an hour; not the "jelly roll" of some of the more recent efforts; balanced is the best description; fruit is there but in right proportions; tannins are there; a slight hint of oak. Much more food friendly that others. Enjoyed.

Rich, but certainly not overbearing; this was a beautiful, concentrated yet elegant and well balanced cab with nice earthy-loamy components and a core of pure dark fruit. Very nice.

This is an aromatic beauty with a nose of pot-pouri, chocolate covered cherries; floral, plum and deep rich masculine fruit (?); super silky, velvety, a little more subdued in the mouth, but that may change over time; earth and loamy notes in the mouth; Extremely nicely balanced for a monster cab like this. It's rare to come across something this good. 23 months French oak; 100% Cabernet

Ripe, flashy, dark fruit liqueur. Not the forefront oak that the regular '07 cab has, and more concentrated. Background structure. Very young, but nice.

Aromatically - Dark cherry with clove complex aromas, very nice. On the palate very napa cab like with huge expansive flavors, only drawback was a faint bitterness on the finish and maybe a bit to much etoh?

Tasted from magnum of all things. Fortunately this very young wine has not shut down yet. Dark garnet to purple color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of fresh ripe berries, potpourri, currants and raspberries. Flavors of Bing cherries, berries and juicy raspberries. Medium acidity and tannins, medium to full bodied. I guess you can drink one right now before it shuts down but I'd recommend holding. Should be beauty with some age on it.

Right in a wonderful sweet spot. Refreshingly "Traditional Bordeaux style Napa Cab" after all the big juicy fruit bombs recently.
