Showed very nicely - even better than the last bottle. In really good shape at this stage and was a pleasing, new world, perfectly aged Cab Franc. Really enjoyed this.

Recent auction purchase. I blinded my wife on this and within a minute, she confidently guessed new world Cabernet Franc 2009 vintage. She said California when prodded for an origin. I think that says a lot about the honesty and quality of this wine (and of my wife's great palate!). This was quite an intense red, with acidity and Cab Franc fruit and herbaceousness (pyrazine?) that really delivered a punch to the palate. Not going to appeal to everyone as it's not what I'd call an "easy-drinker", but I really appreciate the wine making here. In great shape for its age and should hold for a few more years at least. If scoring, 88 - 90.

PnP. Clear, deep dark purple color. Nice CF nose and taste. After 15 minutes glass time, wine mellowed out and drank soft for a CF. Nice integration, good drinking window. A good example of that varietal. Nothing off. Good value.

Giant Wine Sale & Tasting 5/7/2011 (Cellar on Greene, Columbia, SC): We don't get to drink that much Cabernet Franc, and this one did not disappoint. No awards here, just good winemaking with a competent attempt at emphasizing varietal character. This is pretty typical to what I have learned to be Cabernet Franc, with just a hint of green pepper and mocha. The nose is a little closed, or maybe just shy with just hints of graphite and earth. Plenty of color. The fruit profile is relatively distinct with the leading flavor of cedar coated blackberries. This is not a big heavy wine. The alcohol is well integrated, as are the considerable tannins. It is a little spicy. There is some medium plus toast oak that lingers on to the finish.

Opened for an hour, excellent with grilled flank steak. Had a few bottles of this in the past, but this one was the best as it aged nicely. A solid $15 buy.

A very buttery oaky nose, with hints of dark fruit, not much fruit on the palette but tons of sugary candy like smartys or fun dip. Nice tannins on the finish

This was fine, but nothing to go out of your way for. I couldn't really detect any particular varietal distinctiveness here and it may as well have been a merlot as far as I knew. Straightforward nose of cedar and raspberry with a light mouthfeel, but showing clean red fruit flavors.

Opened at work, and shared with a coworker. Took about 30 min of air time, but this really opened up into a nice, earthy wine! Blueberry and earth, with a touch of tannins on the finish. Drinking nicely with some air right now.

Nose of nice toasted vanilla oak, but not a lot more to it. Nice clear ruby color in the glass, palate similar to the nose. Simple and not much depth, but certainly enjoyable as an everyday wine. For $15 you won't go wrong.

Cabernet Finale (Wine Exchange. Orange, CA): Dry chalky smell and mouth feel. Tomato and green vegetables on the palate, but not bitter. Mild tannins and length of 15-20 seconds.

Pop n pour. Bright ruby core with an inviting nose of ripe red berries and cream; very little CF typicity. On the palate, rich and creamy with an open knit style and good acidity, but a medium finish. For around $15, this is a decent value, but I don't see much here for Old World palates and lovers of the Cab Franc grape.

This is a good wine. Drank alongside a huge CA Petit Sirah so some noticeable contrasts. This wine really had a cedar component and maybe even some vegetal notes. It has good fruit too and is not out of balance by any means but to me was more old world in texture/flavors. Nice wine for the price.

Drank at Purple in Seattle last night. Not much of a nose, which is odd for Cab Franc - mostly just a blast of alcohol. The flavour is similarly disappointing. Tastes a little stewed and flat. Blehh....

Owen Roe Tasting (Great Wine Buys, NE Broadway, Portland OR): Not labeled yet, so will be released in about a month. Mostly Cabernet Franc, with a dollop of Sangiovese to add some acidity. Lots of tobacco notes, with some wood and cassis flavors as well.

Nice, well made wine. Gentle fruit with a hint of camphor. Tannins and acid were present, but not in the front. Enjoyable with a steak.

Soft tannins. Dark cranberry, maybe cedar. Good fruit that went really well with grilled lamb chops. Very good bargain at $15.

Very reticent nose. Sweet, creamy juicy youthful fruit, reminiscent of young Cali Syrah. Would never, ever guess Cab Franc if it were blind.

A truly delicious pop and pour cabernet franc. Decanted and drank right away. Owen Roe knows how to make a drinker, highly recommend.
