10450 bottles produced. Yellow fruit, apricot, mineral, fat and rich with superbly balanced acidity. Seems like the first vintage and very good at it. 92-93

This needed a couple hours of air and then it really began to sing; This has a medium-bodied frame with a pretty dense core of citrus and stone fruits, with some judiciously used oak adding some creaminess and depth; The finish is long and pure

Wow. Far better than the last bottle. . It gained weight and balance over the hour it was opened. Decant for 1 hour if it's not oxidized. Glad I kept these.

Smoky/oaky character over some nice ripe white fruit. Good balance and length - at peak now and just the slightest hint that oxidation might be starting to take hold.

Solid, if far from thrilling white Burgundy. Quite lavish, and expensive smelling oak nose, reasonable white fleshy fruit palate with secondary overtones of vanilla and smoke. Good length. Just a little simple overall given the vineyard and price.

Rough gun smoke on the nose, very strong. Orange peel, a slight creaminess and toasted filberts. Rather sloppy in the body. Overwhelmed with the gun smoke and harshness. Bad. And 15 minutes open made this identical to the 2002 had at the same time.
Next day - flint strike elements still dominant, but the body has been replaced with saccherine sweetness underlying the acids. Still abominable.

Some Cote de Nuits with Andrew (Columbus, OH): A flinty mineral nose with orange and nut oils. Good body and firm acidity. Plenty of class here. Initially a bit more fat than the 2002 but after time almost indistinguishable.

A business dinner (Restaurant Kasteel Heemstede *, Houten, Netherlands): Actually quite the opposite of the Masciarelli Trebbiano that came before it. Full and powerful too and certainly not less concentrated, but with all the finesse, style and aromatic richness of the Chardonnay on a great terroir. Stylistically halfway between the steel of Puligny and the fat of Meursault. Has entered its plateau of maturity, but still has lots of potential. Now until 2010+.

Algemeen / potentieel: 50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 12 + Smaak / Afdronk: 17 + Algemeen / potentieel: 8 = 92/100
Colour: Medium golden yellow Aroma / bouquet: Subtle bouquet, flint, honey Taste / Aftertaste: Complex wine, sufficient freshness but especially ripe and rustic notes , honey, vanilla, toast. Creamy round feeling, not super refined, but vital and powerful. Now optimally ready to drink. General / potential: 50 + Colour: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 12 + Taste / Aftertaste: 17 + General / potential: 8 = 92/100

Monthly Tasting Group HWS #087; Burgundy: Vosne Romanée and Clos Vougeot. (By VD): Beautiful bouquet with tropical fruits and a firm dose of luxurious and toasted oak. Same on the palate, pineapple, good citrus, vanilla, anise and soft bitterness. A clean, complex and lovely wine. Not too old yet.

Golden straw colour.
Citrus on nose. Plus toasted brioche.
Bit of grapefruit on palate. Touch of oak. Very clean. Long. Really enjoyed this.

Wow. This has aged beautifully. Plenty of acid, great minerality. Still with a great fruit backbone. I'll save some for the next few years.

Quite nice. Rich, just a touch of oxidization that gives it depth. Nice acid backbone. Holding on better than we all expected. Keep or drink.
