Very prominent dark chocolate and then cherry & currant flavors with a great lingering finish. 2nd of 3 bottles and this was the best it's drank so far. Very good wine. High hopes for the last one.

Funk on the nose and on the palate. Couldn't drink it. I don't think Petite Sirah supposed to taste like this. A waste of $17. I've had good wines from Rosenblum, but this is not one.

Deep purple with some ruby on the edge. Very dark and concentrated. Clean nose of blackberries, blueberries, dark chocolate, black pepper and tropical spices. Palate is consistent. Compared to two and a half years ago, the alcohol has subsided and actually seems lower than the stated 14.8%. Likewise, the tannins have evolved to the point where they are barely noticeabe. The acidity is medium to medium (-), resulting in a fairly balanced wine which is slanted towards the soft end of the scale. Full-bodied and lush it paired well with a plateau de fromage consisting of sharp aged cheeses. This has really come into its own and is drinking very well now. A harmonious, well-made wine which is a remarkably good value.

Big, jammy, indulgent and enjoyable. Biggest flaw is the heat but I find this layered and intense with lovely, attentive tannins, spice and a host of dark flavors. Nice nose, dense color. Over the top but just love it for what it is.

(After a day open) Jammy, dark berry compote, cassis, cedar, pen ink, graphite, and wiffs of alcohol on the nose. Sweet berry and cassis attack up front with finishes of dark chocolate and coffee with a thin mid palate and medium acidity. All the flavor is up front and alcoholic finish leaves the wine off kilter. Difficult with food due to high alcohol. Decent but lacks polish.

Massive fruit has subsided a bit to bring out secondary flavors of dark chocolate and strong coffee. Big, sweet tannins are like leather in the mouth. Long finish.

Yumm -EEE! Good wine! It brings memoirs of the 2004 vintage, but it still doesn't match it. Dark purple, good coca, and dark fruit. Almost a little sweet in the mid-taste with some cigar. Drinking better now than it was 10 months past. Good wine.

Big, inky nose with black fruit and mushroom notes. Big, jammy palate with blackberry, pepper, blueberry and black cherry/currant flaavors. Good acidity and moderate tannins, with a full midpalate and good finish. A bit much with its jamminess and booziness, but well made and tasty.

Very dark and concentrated. Clean nose of blackberries, blueberries, dark chocolate, black pepper and tropical spices. Palate is consistent. Hot with alcohol and sweet fruit at the beginning, with fairly grippy tannins on the finish. Low to average acidity. Full-bodied and lush. It is possible that another year or two in the bottle will allow for more integration. All in all, a fine example of its genre. It may be a little heavy-handed for many, but it is a fun, well made wine. A lot of bang for the buck.

Fuity and spicy at the same time. Had the 2006 followed by the 2007 and I would rate the 2007 a step above. I had more intense fruit on the mid-palate and a bit silkier texture. Both had a nice spicy finish.

Blackberry, little bit of pepper. Tannins are not overly pronounced. Fruit has a stale quality and the flavor were a little dull for a petite sirah. Overall, this is nothing surprising given the price point, but a good cellar protector.

Truly dark purple on pour. Completely opaque, even held up close to a light bulb. Bottle has been open about an hour, but not decanted. Nose of dark plums, blackberries, maybe even prunes, but not in a bad way. Knee jerk reaction says rhubarb, but it's been so long since I've had rhubarb that you'll have to take that with a grain of salt. Less overpowering nose than I might have expected, but I'm a little congested. This is a big, fruity wine listed at 14.8% alc with a little heat, but I'm not put off by the high alc level. Big fruit up front, with a powerful, long tannic finish. maybe a little unbalanced. I would buy again.

Fabulous wine, which vintage-to-vintage, consistently defies its price point. Inky black in appearance with glass-staining dark magenta legs. Hugely aromatic bouquet of sweet black fruits, blackberry jam, and chocolate. Similar on the palate with a charming rusticity: very sweet, nearly overripe fruit are gorgeously balanced by dry, tarry, rubbery tannins.
Better than the 2006, which while great, didn't quite share the tarry tannins of the 2007.
Drink now or hold short. 90 -JRS

Inky purple but transparent deep purple with big legs. Heavy body but silky smooth feel. Dark fruit bomb with, lots of Ripe plum, current, blackberry, chocolate, coffee and a bit of oak in the nose. The taste is in line with the nose. Long finish. I really like the 03 and this is similar. I had one of my remaining 03s recently and it has held up very very well. But this wine is not for everyone and it is not one to chew on all night because its rich. It's almost a desert wine but not as sweet. In fact it is great paired with cheese and cheesecake but I've also enjoyed it with prime rib mushrooms, artichokes. Pair it with heavy food. If you have a lighter wine first, this will be a shocker. If you have this wine first, the others will seem very thin and tasteless. I will get more of this because I think it will age nicely and its a great QPR.
