Veneto Underground Dinner (Chicago, IL): From half-bottle. Tons of dried stone fruit and honey here. It's immensely concentrated, with plenty of floral tones as well. And although this is very, very sweet, there's not a single moment where this is cloying. There's a very alluring golden raisin flavour here that makes you coming back for more, but I'll admit, the concentration on this is so high, it's quite painful to drink quickly.

Orange blossom and red flowers on the nose. So light on the pallet almost like the palate of a dry loire Chenin with the weight of a Sauternes, orange peel muddled with pineapple, Rose petals, lemon grass and orange marmalade. What a treat....

Gorgeous caramel color. The aromas arefantastic, caramel peach, dried pineapple. There is spice note to it... In the palate you definitely taste the spices, pineapple, apricot and candied peaches.... Phenomenal...

It has been almost a year between bottles. Best bottle to date. Gorgeous caramel hue with an absolutely captivating caramel bouquet that makes you want to just sniff the wine. The caramel soars from the glass into the with a delicate richness that seduces the palate. Lengthy 2 minute plus finish. A wine with soul.

Great balance! It is as sweet as any wine you would like to serve with your sweet dessert. But still it is not at all heavy. It is thick and silky in its texture but is still fresh and fruity. It has an abundance of different aromas: honey, passion fruit, mango, cocoa, citrus and ripe plums. It has a cloudy appearance, obviously not filtered. A truly outstanding wine bordering to perfection.

Roy and The NYC Gang do Italy (La Grolla): this came from a very generous Chris. he was having dinner near us and dropped thios off... AMAZING... and as far as the wine - this is thick, almoust like a tokaj without the orange notes. Rich with tropical fruit.

Indian Food at Steve & Barb’s house: According to the label this wine is made up of the Garganega and Turbiana grapes, which I know nothing about. A very inviting gold to copper in the glass, this wine had a big nose of apricots, assorted dried fruits and cardoman. Full bodied and sweet but not heavy with a very long finish. A great dessert wine that only had one obvious fault – we paired it against near perfection, the ’94 ZH Rangen Gewurz SGN. 50+13+12+8.5+8.5 = 92

Imagine the purest, most perfect essence of fig, complicated by notes of banana and caramel and you are almost there. Magical.

Apricot and carmel with a hint of wet stone. Tingling acidity on the finish. Multidimensional and wonderfully complex.

4 years later and the wine continues to drink beautifully. Should last at least another decade.

2001 Barbaresco and Barolo (Tolani Wine Restaurant, 410 Amsterdam Ave, NYC): Amber color. Loads of botrytis in the nose. Extracted, complex with a long finish. Balanced and harmonious. Not very sweet. A terrific dessert wine.
