Drank last night after a few other wines. Gorgeous, plum, depth, orange blossom note, and intensity of flavor. Need to get more Banyuls for the cellar!

500ml. Lovely dessert wine. Nearly monolithic and candied but some nicer elements similar to a vintage port. More red than black fruits. Very smooth. Well hidden alcohol.

Better impression of this than other cts. Light enough to complement momofukos candy bar pie but with sufficient red and fresh personality to avoid losing itself in the mix.

Very simple wine. Almost no nose. Just some faint notes of burnt fruit and wet leaves. The palate has a slight hint of berries and chocolate. The only true highlight was the smoothness of the wine. Nice sweetness. I can't imagine this will improve with more age. Drink up.

Second, and final bottle (thankfully). Painfully simple, unmemorable. Unsure who scored this as worthy of 93 points, but it's farcical. Nothing off-putting, but nothing redeeming, either. 16% abv
Slow-O 4 hours, served non-blind.

Popped the cork at 2p, served at 9p alongside brownies with a raspberry glaze. Simple, and fully integrated at this point (considering the aeration, anyway), RP's 93 looks absolutely silly. 16% abv, drink thru 2015

I last opened this three years ago and was put off by the sweetness, very different from the Banyuls from Dr. Parce that introduced me to Banyuls vin doux naturel. Time has turned some of the sweetness to caramel and nuts and the finish is drier and more port like. My hope is that with time it will continue to come together and some of the simple sweetness will evolve into more notes of interest.

Dark purple. Cassis, shoe polish, and pet litter on the surprisingly fresh nose. Still rather unformed palate is nevertheless dynamic and pleasing in its balance and depth of flavor. Lingering finish promises something for the future even if the apparent lack of tannic clout argues against that.

This is a pretty damn good dessert wine. It's light and elegant, not sweet or unctuous; simple and delicious, yet sophisticated. Sweet raisins, blueberries, and black tea with a hint of black pepper. That's about it.

Uncommon Varieties: Black and syrupy, this comes off as liquid Turkish fig and prunes. Pretty sweet, very dense, and immensely tannic, not your typical dessert wine. The heft and alcohol are reminiscent of young port, perhaps this has a big upside with some aging? For now, definitely not for me.

A bit cloying. Black tea element makes a disjointed appearance amidst a fairly spineless display of syrupy blackberries and milk chocolate. Improved with time. Perhaps it is just too early?? 85-88

First time tasting a grenache-based dessert wine. Lighter bodied than a port and not as sweet. Plum and prune flavors on the nose. Palate of raisins, chocolate, molasses and a hint of nuts. Neither the molasses nor raisin flavors were at all overwhelming, and each profile was well-integrated. A delicious dessert wine.

500ml. Not quite as power-packed as my last bottle, but still lovely sweet red and black fruits. The alcohol is well hidden. Very smooth.

Good enough but not remarkable. Cassis and cough syrup. Nice with chocolate. Not as complex or interesting as other banyuls.

This was noticeably less hot and porty than Port, but didn't have much in the way of charm, either.
