Consumed in one night all by myself, eek! Didn't feel too bad the next day lol. Anyway, Very nice offering that opened up with air and got better. Dark fruit core, still with some tannin and lively fruit, just starting to show secondaries. Very solid offering as most Novy's are. Excellent QPR as well.

Slightly past its prime at this point, though not to the point that anyone was unhappy to knock it back with some lamb shoulder. Blueberry, pine, espresso.

Creosote is gone now. Beautifully balanced. Blue fruits and spices. Pepper I noticed just five months ago is barely present, but it's been replaced by what a friend described as an "espresso note". Good stuff. Probably at its peak.

About a year and a half since my last bottle, and most of the rough edges are gone. Minimal creosote, but it still shows a ton of pepper (a good thing, at least for me). Black and blue fruits and plenty of spices. Nice mouthfeel and a decent finish. Probably just starting to hit its stride.

Dark fruits and smoke on the nose. Black and blue fruits on the palate, along with pepper and a little too much smoke/creosote/road tar. Medium body and a rather tart finish. Will probably be better balanced in another year or two.

Expressive nose of balck and blue fruits, black pepper and herbs. Medium plus body of black raspberry, blueberry, pepper and olives. Medium plus finish.

Popped and poured, needed about 30 minutes to air out and strut. Red-purple, medium bodied wine; nice blue/black fruit bouquet; meat pie, blueberry, spice box, with a little pepper; nice acidity, fine tannins, medium/long finish. Anothe great bottle from Novy.

Still over-oaked for my palate, but I can see others rating it higher. There is a nice wild berry flavor, but it's largely covered up by the oak influence.

I am disappointed. Seems over-oaked and a bit disjointed to me. I do not think this will evolve either. I have two more bottles so I will see if there is some bottle variation. I realize now that my initial 80 score was probably too harsh, but I still feel the overwheling flavor on this wine is oak which is disappointing.

2007 Novy Syrah Party + A Pile Of Other Things (The Murray Casa): Mixed impressions here. This bottle was one of the first to drain, yet for me, I did not warm to it as some others did. Brighter with more raspberry lift, blackberry and chocolate. What it seemed like to me was kind of a one note, one dimensioned wine. Bit sweet with a little pepper. Would be interested to see how others at the event saw this bottling. For me, I'll take the RRV syrah over this one.

S loved it. I found it rich, but a tad one-note. Still drinking fine, though.

Has the meaty, gamey richness, but with a very elegant touch. Delicious with lamb chops.

Excellent bottle, very well balanced and Northern Rhone like but with the richer fruit of California.

Plum, fig, blackberry. Spicy oak is a little heavy. A little thin on fruit with a mid-length finish.
color 5/5
nose 7/10
taste 15/20
balance 6/10
finish 3/5
