I think it was my first time with one of these wines. It poured a bit darker than I expected, but could have been because we were trying it out of a shot glass which prob isn't the right vehicle for this wine. Totally fine set of sweetness. Not at the same level as the '98 Guiraud, but not with the same years either.

25cl bottle with screw cap: Pale golden. Fruity citrus dominated nose, but no botrytis, very Loire like. Viscous, very sweet taste, caramel, toffee finish. Fine dessert wine but not typical Sauternes. Drink now.

Le Week-End des Grands Crus 2011 (Bordeaux): In the nose heather honey, spice, botrytis, flower, peach, zest. Sweet on the palate, candied yellow fruit, spice, good acidity, good concentration, pure aromas. 91-92 p?

Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux 2008 Tasting (The Barker Hangar – Santa Monica, CA): Quite fresh with savory sweetness to the aromas of petrol, honeysuckle, pineapple, and honey. The palate offers spicy richness with flavors of dried pineapple, raisins, and stone fruits. This wine is complex and dense with just enough acidity to balance the lush fruit. I was blown away by the 2007 last year and this is good but nowhere near that level.

Clear lemon yellow with sweet pineapple and an ozone freshness on the nose. Weighty and sweet with apricot and golden syrup flavours. A little nutty raisin on the finish.

Honestly, no the greatest of bouquet when opening the bottle.
But what it lacked in nose, it surely made up in flavour !!!!

Light aroma, like a very mild apple or apricot. Taste of honey and sweet fruit with a good balance. Very enjoyable. Long finish, long legs.

UGC 2008 Bordeaux Tasting (Palate Hotel, SF): Interesting nose with hints of copper/metal. Some minerals. Palate is balanced, still has hints of metal.
