It needs several hours to open up, and then, pure magic. Knee-weakening bouquet and profile, notably of blue and purple berries. Powerfully structured, long, clean finish.

Deep purple with blue hues. Drank over four delightful days, savoring every sip. Rock solid on the first day, but tight, and showing latent depth. Days two and three revealed an inflection changing mind-bender that featured tremendous richness, layers of blue and purple berries, berry liqueurs, chocolate (powder, sweetened, and dark), espresso, seared pork belly (bacon fat), herbs, and crushed black rocks. Mint infused sweet berry liqueurs and dark chocolate ganache showed prominently on the fourth day. Thought provoking range and precision, with medium plus to high acid, medium to medium plus tannins, and exceptional balance. This bottle had thrown considerable sediment but remained deep, opaque purple. 96-97.

Let this bottle sit open for 24 hours. Similar to my previous note, except that it morphed into smooth, velvety nectar that had such a fine tannin bite. Glorious!

Dark, dark, dark, almost black. Still young, but very good. Powerful floral nose and dark, sweet fruits on the palate. Nicely sweet, without being over the top. Hints of chocolate. Hold for another five years...

The nose was a little restrained. Decanted for an hour. Rich, dark flavors. Chocolate, dark berries, hints of black licorice. Excellent port that can use 5 plus years of further development.

Tapped a 750ml with the Coravin for a relatively small taste. This is another 2007 amazing Port with so much development ahead. Absolutely chewy tannins. Dark fruits, chocolate, spice. Amazing finish! Love this Port!

very dark colour with lots of purple - very young looking spicy nose, raw grapes so tannic and chewy lots of dark chocolate peppery needs time but I think it'll be really good.

On opening this wine showed an incredible intense sweetness in the mouth - reminiscent of a top vintage of Grahams. But this wine is most certainly black fruited. The finish at first is very tannic - this wine has monsterous grip. And overalll thunderous impact. This bottle was opened with the intention of following its evolution over a full day or so. At about 2-4 hours open in the decanter, the tannins show more and the fruit comes down a notch, though it is still obviously strong. The tannins on this wine are never unpleasant, showing a fascinating dark cocoa bitterness. Between 6-8 hours open the wine starts to knit together and shows the best balance yet - the fruit and structure are now coming through in equilibrium. It now tastes more like a wine (rather than a beast...but in a good way!) and shows remarkable potential for aging very long and very gracefully. Spice nuances (especially star anise) begin to emerge. (About half the botlle was stored overnight in the covered decanter at about refrigerator temperature). On Day 2 I first sampled the wine 18 hours after the bottle was uncorked. The wine was still fresh and electric. A bit more closed now, and showing acid and tannin in spades. The fruit is still obviously quite primary and black. Over the next two hours - towards 20 hours open - this Port hits a nice drinking window. Licorice flavours come forth as well as some nice cherry cough drop. Oodles of potential here folks! 95+

2007 Sandeman Vintage Port – very tannic, a baby beast, great structure, balanced still, clearly very primary yet, black fruit, palate-coating and glass-staining, fantastic potential here! 95 points

Dark purple, almost black. Initially the nose is quite tight and alcohol heavy, but opens over time revealing intense berry fruits and cloves. Fine sweet tannins hold the flavours long on the palate. Full and powerful with enormous mid palate concentration; spicy blackcurrant fruit and menthol. Lovely, full but obviously very young.

Enjoyed this bottle over five days. Densely packed purple berries and liquefied rocks. Tremendous acid and massive tannins.
