Soft, smooth and delicious fruit without much complexity. Very appreciated. Some alcohol burn but nice wine. Overdelivery on price point after 8 years in the cellar.

The mourvedre was dominant in this bottle, lots of tree bark notes on nose and palate, black pepper comes in on the finish with a very dark and savory profile. People who want sweet fruit might not like this, but I found it very interesting.

Shiraz with darker notes added from the mourvèdre. A bit of smoke, blackberries and blueberries, spices. Quite interesting but lacks the finesse and smoothness to score higher. Will probably last several years more.

Head 2 head against Rufus Stone 2009 Heathcote Shiraz (follow head2headwine on twitter to see the play-by-play) The Penfolds wins mainly due to price point. Both are enjoyable wines, but why pay more for the Rufus when you can enjoy the Penfolds. I'd purchase the Penfolds again.

Dark. I got youthful, forward, slightly jammy blackberry mixed with concord grape. I looked for spice but didn't find it. It was ripe and balanced in the mouth with an enjoyable, lingering finish. Overall, forward, good wine, basic fruit. Now or wait a few years.

O - mörkt blåröd m homogena kanter D - doften av hostmedicin fyller snabbt rummet, syltig frukt som avkokta jordgubbar, katrinplommon S - fylligt alkoholdrivet m syltig jordgubb i frukten, ganska platt men vi hittar lite mandel men även en grön otrevlig stjälkighet som tillsammans med alkoholen bildar en besk avslutning 7p

Popped & poured. Dark almost black hue. Tight nose initially but opened up a bit with black cherry aroma. Dark red fruit on the palate with a peppery finish. Surprisingly good.

Deep purple in the glass, the nose shows aromas of bitter cherry, cooked plum and a hint of white pepper. The palate is full bodied, rich and edgy. It shows dark berry fruit, baking spice, a little rustic earthiness and well integrated oak.

Ruby-black, deep and rich in the glass. Gamey cherry, currant, and anise notes on the bouquet are lightly spiced. Meaty black fruits are open on the palate, building to a more savory character as it works its way through. Tannins are rich and firm, closing with light peppery spice and black fruit. Enjoyable at its price point.

This was surprisingly good. A bit tight initially but opened up nicely. Not a complex bottle by any means, but good dark fruit with some pepper on the finish, with a touch of dark chocolate.

Very nice powerful and round wine, with deep color, ripe fruit, cozy and comfortable fruitiness in the palate.

Black in color. Big nose of anise, graphite, tar, and smoke. Mostly secondary flavors, the mourvedre predominates. It's monolithic.

Not bad, but too ripe and sweet. Typical Aussie bargain juice.
