[Blind] Nose has moderate brettanomyces on top of vibrant and lush red fruit (in a way that I quite like). Floral, fragrant, highly expressive, very showy. Modern stylistically but with some age on it. Flashy new oak. I really like this a lot. Smells amazing, stem inclusion. Reasonable staying power on palate. Wine of the lunch in my opinion.

Tons of earthy musty aromas of strawberry nougat, blackberry confiture, balsam wood, orange pekoe tea, with some feral notes on the back. On the palate the wine is pungent and gives an austere impression of hard red fruit married with loam elements. Med plus acidity dominates the low pitched red toned fruit. The still has verve but also seems a bit tired.

Good nose of red berries and some raspberries. Some wood spice and a seductive spice element. Palate a little thin and finish was clipped. Just cant get away from the 00 vintage here.

(Young) Meo Camuzet Dinner (Legacy Records): Vibrant and bright nose of youthful red cherry, leaner than the ‘01 but with a certain energy that is pleasant right now. Some perfume too. This nose is somewhat comparable to the ‘07. With a little more air this is a wonderfully fresh soil rusticity coming off of it. On the palate this is soft, round, elegant.

Farewell to Phil: Some meaty notes, violet, cherry, roses and earth - classic and appealing nose. Delicate on the palate, lovely light red fruit that has plenty of savoury notes sitting alongside. Lovely drinking now, I don't think it'll fall over but it's in a good spot as is.

Garnet with slight bricking. Aromas of strawberry and cherry which follows through in the candied flavors with fresh, balanced acidity and minerality. This is a generous medium-full bodied wine with rewarding complexity and length. A fine burgundy.

This bottle is stunning. Slow oxed for 90 mins. Everyone guessed its a gevrey or vr. Very floral with red fruit, coffee beans, wild berries and perfume. Palate is transperent and complex. It kept changing in the glass for 2 hrs plus.
This wine had a collapsing cork and it is hard to know how much this issue contributed to the taste but it was free of any cork issues and very mellow and wonderfully drinkable , I suspect the faulty cork may have hasten maturity a tap but all was good.

Bottle from another case. Impressive with the power and youthfulness of this wine given the vintage. I expect this will improve and I will save the rest of the case. Meo does so well with Clos Vougeot.

Another enjoyable bottle. Drank over 6 hours. Same note as the last however with more time in the glass this took on a wonderful creaminess. This seemed more mature than the lasts bottle and is in a great place right now. I'm sure it will hold here for some time and possibly develop more nuances but this is in a great spot today

Drank over 3 hours. I really enjoyed this wine. Initially the nose was a little subdued emphasizing mineral notes with a background of red fruit. Over time the red and black fruit moved to the front. The palate matched and was dominated by tart red fruit, lots of mineral and metallic notes along with very bright acidity. Initially a little shallow on the mid palate but this filled out over time. The tartness and acidity reminded me of a young Leroy. There were slight secondary characteristics of iron. Starting to mature but will take a long time. Great long finish with excellent grip.

Miscellaneous Notes from France; 11/5/2011-11/11/2011 (Paris and Burgundy): Deep color. Earthy and head spinningly spicy-full of cloves and cinnamon. Great amplitude, ripeness, and acidity, especially for the vintage. Showing brilliantly. Outstanding bottle and very supple and smooth for Clos Vougeot.

Meo Camuzet Clos Vougeot Vertical (Sun Wah): Dark red color, fairly ripe aromatics to start with good spice. Some fascinating wintergreen aromatics started to emerge after a couple of hours open. Red and black cherry flavors in roughly equal proportion. A bit sweet on finish, wish there was a bit more acidity. Just slightly behind the 1999 for best in flight, this might have been better by the end of the evening.

Burgundy 2011 Day 2: Dinner at Ma Cuisine (Ma Cuisine, Beaune, Burgundy): Finally, a 2000 that William thought was very good. This was a superb showing given the vintage. It had an absolutely gorgeous nose, showing lots of perfumed florals, rose petals, some dusty earth, stony, ferrous mineral, along with sweet red cherries and red dates, a hit of wood spice and a hint of meat. Wow. Complex and enticing, I could have sniffed the glass all night. No slouch on the palate either. Here, we got lovely flavours of sweet spice sprinkled over sweet dark cherries and berries and another toss of earth. On the mid-palate, the wine showed lovely succulent fruit, very fleshy, with a nice depth as it worked its way into a delicious finish that had a touch of meaty leather. The tannins had been more or less resolved, and the wine was nicely integrated so that it came across as extremely elegant for a Clos Vougeot. Still though, there was a firmness and structure here and a primacy to the fruit that suggests that it can age for some time yet. Wonderful stuff, and a great pairing with a roast pigeon dish.

Not as impressive as I remember 5 or so years ago. This bottle was had at Ma Cuisine and there were some leakage stains near the top. Rim was just turning a touch brownish. They decanted the wine and it felt funky when first served. The wine integrated after about an hour and then drank very nicely. It was more mature and secondary than I expected. Not enough high tone expression for me. I wonder if this is just the bottle condition. Drink now, I don't think this will improve

Opened, but not decanted, two hours before dinner and savored over the next two. Cork was stained to the top, but otherwise the bottle was in good condition. Color was a clear dark cherry red with more clearing than bricking on the rim: a youthful looking wine. A hint of maturity on the nose, however, with a touch of forest floor underlying the cranberry-orange, red fruit juggernaut, a head-turning perfume.
The initial impression is tart and then more tart. It stays in balance but I'd hate to try it without food. Still fairly primary, focusing on red fruits and spice with a modicum of minerality. I kept thinking "smoky cranberry" whatever that is. The tannins are in a good spot, but all told this is still on the upslope. Sadly it was my only bottle.

This was really on form. I'm finding 2000 Clos Vougeot to be drinking really well right now if you like primary fruit and only a hint of secondary. This wine is rich and ripe - a tip of the hat to New World. But make no mistake, this is Clos Vougeot (and not from the lower swampy bit). Intoxicating perfumed Burgundy nose. On the palate, gorgeous candied bing cherries, mocha and fresh pine needles. Well-integrated tannins. A hint of mineral. Fantastic mouthfeel.
