Been almost 2 years since I last had one of these. Poured a glass out took first sip at about the 1 hour mark and then we consumed the bottle over hours. Nose shows a little cedar, some dusty cherry, a little plum, and a little burnt caramel. Taste is dominated by tart raspberry and cherry up front. Mid palate is a little thin. Finish comes in with a little menthol. Still get a sense of alcohol in transition from mid to finish. No more for us...these are gone.

Day 2 finds this wine still pretty grippy and fruity, without any of the heat issues other tasters have mentioned. Also some gentle spice to be had. Very solid.

Open for an hour, tighter nose of raspberries and some cherry, pretty grippy tannins around a front end of fruit, midpalate is kinda hollow and the finish is solid, with some sandalwood and dark fruit but unexciting. I'll publish another note when I drink more tomorrow, but for now, this rates as a good weekday drinker, worth the $15 I paid for it, but not more.

Popped and poured, consumed over 3 hours. Really dark color with lighter hues around the rim. Nose has a creamy cola aspect to it along with nice mild sandalwood over top some ripe cherries. Taste is bright, ripe dark fruits. There is quite a bit of heat in the transition from mid to finish. Nice mouthfeel with ample tannins and there is some menthol on the finish. Nice modern wine but too much alcohol shows through.

Interesting nose on this wine - cherry, non-ripe plum (still hanging on the tree), pine needles and lavender soap. Mostlythe same fruit on the palate, with just a touch of cedar. For $30, this is nice Cab Franc, but I don't think I'd pay much more.
NOTE: this wine was sent to me as a free sample.

Popped, poured, tasted over 3 hours. Fairly dark almost purple color with hints of sediment while the rim shows a lighter layer. Nose is sandalwood meets cola with maybe a hint of menthol underlying it. Taste leans more towards dark red or black fruits with plenty of tannins and bit of eucalyptus and vanilla bean. A bit lacking in acidity and heat shows through on transition from mid-to-finish but it is a nice long finish. Pretty darn good; glad I've got a couple of more bottles.

Good, needed air for mbe an hour, plenty of fruit but not excessive, great with pizza or more formal fare.

Still very young, needed a lot of air. Once it opened up, gentle spiciness presented itself. Very nice.

3rd Annual Expedition Wines American Homegrown tasting (Webster's Wine Bar, Chicago IL): nose: aromatic and balanced nose of dark red cherries, herbs, red florals and berry tones
taste: silky medium feel with good tannins and medium acidity. Well Balanced with polished tones of dark red cherries, herbs and berries
overall: while not the most complex cab franc, it is very good. Has some good fruit to it along with the more herbal elements of the varietal
