2006 Barolo (Trattoria One Fifth, NYC.): [Double-decanted for one hour around 2pm.] The biggest surprise of the evening for me. This wine in other vintages always seems a bit thin, lacking the umph of the Brunate Le Coste. Not this one. Gorgeous nose of black fruit, licorice and spice. Big, structured, tannic, but showing loads of promise. The best Cannubi San Lorenzo Ravera I've ever had.

I last tried this wine 8 years ago, in 2014. It has aged beautifully and is very approachable now. Deep brick red with a slightly amber rim, the nose leaps from the glass with that incredible blend of aromas you only get from Nebbiolo: ripe cherries, tar, crushed rose petals, beeswax, pound cake. Tart but richly flavored, envelops the palate, very long finish. A superb wine,

Nose: There is so much depth and elegance to this as it permeates in the glass with red cherries, strawberries, raspberries, roses, fresh herbs, cinnamon sticks, licorice, violets, and earth notes. This saw about an ~8 hour decent and it certainly helped.
Taste: The feel is Medium bodied with tart, high acidity and silky, high tannins. The structure still shows some youth, especially with the tannins. The tannins aren’t too overpowering while the feel is lithe and deep with red cherries, strawberries, raspberries, roses, fresh herbs, cinnamon sticks, licorice, and earth notes.
Overall: This may be on the early side of its drinking window, and it is also gorgeous. There is a long life ahead of it. I can see it benefitting from a few more years to let the structire balance a bit, bit the nose is stunning. This is a wonderful Barolo.

young medium red color, high toned nose, cherries, leather and a bit of polish, dried leaves, on the palate savory wild cherries with tea leaves and herbs, saddle leather, very primary and young still on the mid-palate, flower petals, fine finish that is quite tight on the tail end, racy, exciting, developing beautifully, in another decade this should be in a magnificent place.

Surprisingly open and aromatic nose, at least after a couple hours in a decanter, with soft red berry, rose, and sappy balsamic notes. Very pretty and still very primary. This is an old school Barolo, but clean & pure. Medium weight with nice acidity. Accessible now but will reward a decade more patience.

A medium-bodied wine, garnet in color, a bit of glycerine evident in the viscous body and long tears it leaves in the glass. On the nose, rose petals and red currents, waxy notes, the faintest hints of spice cake. Burgundian in style: tart but ripe fruit, not at all heavy on the palate, with substantial acidity and adequate tannic structure. Long finish. Very enjoyable, but needs more time to approach its peak.

Fine Barolo. Rather underpowered but well aged and flavors well fused. Berries and cherries. Aroma fruity but not strong Takes an hour to develop its message.

Gorgeous fruity and floral nose. An explosion of little soft red berries, Red Cherry, strawberry, rose, violet, lavender. All very fresh. Balsamic, anise. Harmonic and balanced at palate in spite of the important acidity (maybe having paired a guancia brasata, helped a bit) Long finish. Traditional.

the nose keeps this going - wonderful rose petal and flowery. the palate does not live up to the nose and is a little tight with cherry and tart fruit. I find this version is definitely better than others I have had (2001, 2003, 2007) but once again a cannubi-SL that doesnt hold a candle to the equivalent brunate le coste and I don't understand why they are always priced the same. I think from now on I'm just doubling up on the brunate and putting a line through this one.

Very closed med - intensity nose of tobacco, spices and tart red fruit...in the mouth there is some sweet fruit but at this point totally closed and structural...from mag in la morra

From magnum. Fantastic. Ripe cherry, tar and roses. Classic and seriously structured. Drinking beautifully but clearly has a long window ahead.
