It's a much better bottle than the last one, but you have to be patient and let the wine air out. Right after opening the acidity is overpowering, a taste of sour cherries. But after a couple of hours, it mellows out and becomes much more enjoyable

My second Graillot Crozes-Hermitage bottle with vinegar acidity problems. The previous one was a 2007 vintage and that one was undrinkable. This one could be drinked but not fully enjoyable. Could there have been a systematic hygiene problem in the winemaking at the time?

Beautifully perfumed with stemmy notes and every typical cool-grown syrah marker in the book. Medium-bodied with smooth texture, focused acidity, red-berried/vegetal flavours and and a salty liquorice/white pepper finish. This once lean, tart, and astringent '08 has improved in a remarkable way - a great example of transformation. Stunning with boeuf bourguignon. Clearly at its peak now.

Wow, what an improvement! Lots of green-peppery pyrazines on the nose, fairly light-bodied, with high acidity nicely rounded out by time, driving the flavours together with pronounced peppery sensations. Great match with fillet of reindeer with potato mash in a madeira sauce. À point now, but will surely keep for a few years more.

2008 was a bad year in Northern Rhone and it really shows here. The fruit is thin and more towards lingon-berries than traditional Syrah fruit. Extremely high acidity makes the wine quite unpleasant. I don't think this will get ever balanced.

Loved it! Really out there. Amazing! Like green olives and rare fillet mignon, with a mad minerality and a touch of salt. Some tart red fruits, but they seem to have settled considerably along with what was likely once a scary acidity. Metaphorically tastes like someone slaughtered a bull and let it bleed all over the the restaurant floor, and I loved every traumatic moment of it.
Not for everyone, certainly not for the faint hearted or if you prefer new world fruit. Drinking this wine is a bit like playing high school football in west Texas....if you go in soft, you're going to get hurt.

I have had 3-4 bottles of this wine in this vintage and never liked it. My conclusion was that the wine needed more time, but this bottle was clearly flawed, undrinkable. Acidic, with an odd chemical flavor mixed in with sour cherry.

One of the weirdest wines I have ever tasted. Cinnamon, dill, chalk, green pepper, cloves, chocolate, dust, deep black fruit: a veritable witch's brew. Intense tannins and crazy-sharp acidity, shrill and unpleasant, confused and disjointed. Even a three hour decant only has a moderate effect. I'm not sure cellaring would help. In the end, not worth the money or the time.

Really enjoyable wine. Had this vintage 3 or 4 time now and keep going back for more. A very Pleasant tart cherry chalky mineral wine all around. Cloudy in the glass always gets me excited right away. Nice vibrant cherry red color. Loads of tart mineral and cherry medium weight and body. Loved the flavors, loved the texture. Opens up beautifully in the glass. Loved it! Also the 2009 is looking great a little darker in the glass and more concentration of fruit.

Dark red and a nose that promises to deliver a pure fruttata wine. On the palate it is raw, concentrated and fruity. The very high acid level makes this wine not at all enjoyable. (Too expensive at A Nu, Hiroo.)

This wine in the best of years is on the leaner side, so maybe no surprise that in a cool vintage like 08 if falls short. Fairly light, lean red fruits, lacks intensity, and is dominated by tart acidity. Not much pleasure in this for me.

This is all about pepper at the moment, both on the nose as well as the taste. Hints of raw meat together with the typical iodine/medicine cabinet.
The acid matches the fruit well, the fruit is there all the time, however it is normally more of everything in this wine. Use to be more complex, more powerful, greater length and better fruit. I put this on the vintage account. It is a nice wine at the moment given the price tag, however this is not a keeper at all. Drinks well at the moment. Buy to drink over the next few years.

Starts in a Burgundian vein with sour, red fruits, an appealing nose and penetrating acidity. This is really lively and fresh. With time the tannins evolve and shut this down. Deriving from this is a bitter finish which shows some oak too. It did alright if not great with food. As the night went on it held its own without really wowing. The acidity was always there as the backbone. I see this as having great potential in 2-3 years. My type of wine but really only a baby.

Very bright, young nose with fresh red fruits. On the palate, there's a hint of fruit initially, but then the significant structure takes over. Really nice flavours in the mouth and after.
