Wet stones, salt, tar, iodine. Airy, medium bodied, blue fruit on the palate, burn soil. A wine of immense character and just getting better and better.

Best bottle of this wine yet. There’s band aid, iodine, iron, stones and blue fruit notes on the nose. Truly old-school Côté-Rôtie, burnt soil notes - almost like Cornas. I’m loving this.

There is notes of blueberry fruit, animal fur and tar on the nose. The tar is rather pronounced now, a hint of green olive as well. The body is fairly lean, the tannins are marked and still unresolved, and I get marks of smoked meat, dark fruit, olives. Lots of character, local feel, but slightly out of balance tonight. This might be better tomorrow.

Stunning. Opens up with a nose of flowers, blueberry and cracked pepper. Crushed rock on the palate, animal notes, dark fruit. Airy and light, very precise. Sense of place. Perfect spot right now.

A stringent, precise, vibrant wine. Initially some green notes, much better on day two, white pepper, light red fruit, quite Burgundian, light on it's feet - yet lots of local feel. The domaine os gain ing on me, happy to have bought a case of the 2015 Chavaroche, picked up for a very good price; thanks, PB, for the tip.

BYOB HT14#1; 9/6/2014-9/7/2014: #BYOB - A close second tonight! I love this style of Syrah! Black pepper, white pepper, barnyard, manure, sausage, steak tartare and dark but cool fruit. On the palate the wine is absolutely outstanding. High acidity, inky, almost salty fruit, round, but with a dry finish. High intensity and a length to die for.

At this moment completely closed. Fruit, acidity and silky tannins are in development. Think it will turn out extremely fine, burgundian kind when finished. Only troubling point is the impression of lacking acidity. Had this impression with the more developed Landonne from Rostaing, too, let's see how they will be further down the road.
