It's obvious that it was at the end of it's life, but it rose up with a nice nose and full flavor of currants and dark cherries. My only regret is not drinking it sooner.

Very dark in the glass, defined clear meniscus, definite legs in the glass after swirling (fwiw). Interesting nose, at different times got sweet flower, nutmeg, anise, macerated black fruits, alcohol. This is a big bruiser of a wine, most noticeable when in the mouth. The wine seems very primary, plum at first then the tannins take over and dominate (the Mouvedre?) though did get some pepper as well. Tannins dominate the finish. Very good, especially for those of us who like big wines.

Thanksgiving. Like all Grand Reve wines which I aged and opened recently, this was fruit dominated, very ripe, powerful and rich. Lacks complexity, acidity, and finesse. Medium finish.

Dark ruby magenta. Lovely balanced edge at glass. So pure, almost no alcohol detectable. Raspberry, sweet wood traces, cream, floral oils. Taste is incredibly balanced and light, almost like it's not even there. Delicate core of fresh stone fruit, with completely integrated tannins and a pleasant, lasting finish. Amazing restraint. Drinking at peak I would think, but will likely last for a long time.

2007 Pnp 93+ Very tasty and powerful stuff. Probably should be decanted for at least 1 hour. Raspberry, cream, very perfumie, wood, cranberry nose. Flavor of blackberry strong tannins, creamy. Tasty stuff and should last a long time. Good stuff.

Deep dark fruits on the nose. On the palate it's a full-bodied wine with rich black and blue fruits. Dusty fine tannins and good acidity make this a wine that can be held for further aging, although it's quite tasty now, with two or more hours of air.

Purple in color. 14.9% ABV. Made by Ross Mickel of Ross Andrew Winery. A blend of 55% Syrah, 25% Grenache, 19% Mourvedre, 1% Viognier. An alluring nose of dark fruits, game and flowers. Full bodied with great acidity. Grilled meats, blueberries, peppercorns, coffee and cherries on the palate. The finish completes this wine. Drink over the next 4-6 years.

Floral / herbaceous nose. Might have even guessed an Italian white by the nose alone (!). In the mouth: Humongous. Heavy tannin, especially at pop. Opens towards the cherry-chocolate flavors I get from Red Mountain wines, only very very concentrated here. Funk near the back, almost towards the industrial part of the spectrum (gasoline on the fingers?). Very unique. I'd call it an after-dinner wine that's certainly not a port or madiera.

With most of their bottlings having stellar CT scores, I'm still looking to find a Grand Reve variety to live up to the hype. While quite good - none of the collaborations I've tried thus far have approached the greatness oozed about here. Perhaps if these resided in the $30 instead of $50 range... Understandibly - these do require mucho air and may be built for the long term, as is evidenced by the tannic grip that overwhelms on first sip. Over the few hours we drank, the chocolate notes did waft by more pleasantly, but otherwise the firm structure barely budged. Note to self: hold all remaining GR/FM as long as possible.

Color: Opaque Purple Smell: Wonderful, bold dark fruits, black berries, (5 of 5) Taste: Velvety on the palate, Black berry, (4.5 of 5) Overall: Long finish, smooth, drank over 5 hours and still wonderful the morning after for the last 3 oz. in the glass.

Color: Garnet with a violet hue Smell: Granite, dark fruits, blueberries, hints of vanilla, and faint dark chocolate notes Taste: Dark fruits, blueberries, coffee, and a bit of minerality Overall: A "new world" styled wine that is complex and interesting. There is a deft use of oak, but it is well restrained with vibrant fruit and solid structure. Medium + fruit, Medium acidity, medium-full body, with a medium-long finish around 30 seconds

Perhaps I didn't give this long enough to open. I brought this out to a restaurant to enjoy with dinner, but it really didn't provide a lot of character. Admittedly, we opened and finished within about 2 hours, but it was sort of flat and while I got vanilla and some berry flavors, they were very light. This was my last bottle in my cellar, I'll look forward for additional years to try.

I opened my first bottle of this after returning home from dinner at Neapolis on 5/9/10. After an hour in the decanter, it had cherry, orange peel, meat, spice and herbal aromas. The palate followed with black cherry, cranberry, and spice flavors. It was tight and full of youthful energy. I opened this far too early, but I had such a hard time getting a read on it at the Wicked Cellars dinner…I just couldn’t wait!
24 hours later it had opened up a lot and the tart cranberry component really dominated. I think this is far too young to drink and needs at least a couple of years to reach its potential. 91+

I had this at the Wicked Cellars Grand Rêve dinner on 4/23/10. It had a great bouquet of cherry, meat, herb and baking spice aromas. The palate was smooth, balanced and delicious with flavors that followed the nose.

The first of 6 bottles, It is a powerhouse! We found it more enjoyable paired with our NY Strip steaks. It did not hold up well on day 2.

Still drinking well. Don’t taste the alcohol. Tannins are integrated. Maybe at or past peak but pairs well with food.

11th bottle from the original 12. Wish I had more.
Drank this a couple nights ago - it was lovely, and consistent with previous notes.
