Impressions of ripe dark berries, chocolate, cedar and toasty oak on the nose. The palate is full-bodied with powerful sweet black fruit, quite tannic still and also with obvious oak influence. Quite low acidity but there is some freshness in form of green flavors and juicy fruit. Very, very extracted. Obviously another modern take on St. Emillion and thus not my preferred style, but certainly an ambitious wine. 16+/20

This must have been a very decent wine a few years back. Today it is way past it's prime. Color has faded and bricking and loys of barnyard aroma. Not sure if this is an off bottle, but the cork was in great shape.

Ok, so you have 93 point wines which you rate 93 because they are well made, correct and cerebral but actually not that nice to drink. Then you have 93 point wines which are lip smacking delicious and draw you back for another glass. Previously comment covers off this wine, ie typical 09 flavours of caramel and creme de cassis with fresh oak on the nose. I would buy more given the chance. Feels like there is no hurry to drink this wine, but at a good stage of development also.

Beautiful nose of creme de cassis and vanillin new oak. Medium-full bodied, this is rich, round and plush. Still has sturdy tannins, but they are mostly resolved. This could accompany a steak, but is also quite nice on its own. Just absolutely delicious, this is loaded with creme de cassis as well as milk dark chocolate with a dash of sea salt! This is really quite delicious right now. Drink now-2027 93

Sister of the corked bottle - bought together. Excellent Emilion, powerful, but not overreaching, smooth drink and palate. Just disappointed the other one was not as good.

Bottle was slightly corked though the cork itself was in a perfect condition. After being decanted improved a bit. Kept it for almost 8 years in wine fridge so storage was “controlled”

Medium/full-bodied, soft, silky, fresh, earthy and floral, there is sweetness and depth to the fruit, and the right amount of polish to the tannins, providing an elegant, silky experience. Close to f-mature, no decanting needed, drink this over the next 10-15 years.

Popped and poured for dinner on the patio with friends. This was delicious and ready to drink without decanting. Plenty of body and flavor. Two of us killed the bottle while everyone else had a nice white.

I like this. So far my 09 Bordeaux have been really well made, but perhaps a little predictable. This wine is certainly well made and in addition, has a character that is more in line with my preferences. Blackcurrant, clove, tobacco, dark plum, brambles. Medium bodied with decent length. It has more acidity than most of the 09s I have had so far. Has a long life ahead of it.

Dark colour, fruitful nose of plum, violets, graphite and leather. At the very begining of a secondary journey, the tannins remain medium to firm but are integrating well, the acid remains fresh and clean but the flavour is fairly full with plums, berries, violet notes, graphite and a touch of leather. The finish is medium.

Medium garnet Medium+ intensity, aromas of plums, black cherry, cocoa, graphite and leather. firm medium+ tannins, medium+ acidity, high alcohol, full body, medium+ intensity flavours of plums, graphite and leather. Medium finish. Very good wine, well integrated tannins, deep concentrated fruit starting to turn to tertiary. Finish is a bit short.

Opened to pair with a grilled, stuffed flank steak. Typical Bordeaux nose on bottle pop. Ruby / garnet colour. Hints of cherry and pencil lead on the nose when I decanted it. After about two hours it opened up really well. Cigar box, plum, and a touch of graphite. Alas my only one...

Last bottle was 4 years ago. Clean and elegant nose, floral but not intense. Tannins are softer than previously, firm but no rough edges. Complex and long with slight heat at finish, characteristics of the high alcohol vintage, may never go away. Already approachable but not yet ready for prime time. Oaks still lingering on. Rich and borderline too ripe. The 18% Cabernet Franc does not stand out, mainly Merlot now. Hard work drinking this on 2nd day. Seems a bit too ripe and over-extracted with heat at backend....hmmmmm...JG probably would give this a 80 pts. lol. JR was right to score this 14.5/20.

Still a dark purple color. Big nose of creme de cassis and new vanilla-tinged wood. Full-bodied and rich, but still youthful and unformed, though delicious. This seems to have all the component pieces in spades, just needs a little more time to come together. Exceptionally plush with high quality tannin. Combines richness and elegance. Drink 2019-2027 92
Drank with dinner at Le Clos du Roy in Saint-Émilion. Drinking quite nicely right now, but certainly years away from peaking. Dark ruby color. The aromatics were quite lovely, with ripe plum, raspberry, licorice, spice, and mocha. Full-bodied with a great mouthfeel. Overall impressive complexity. Tannins smooth but did have some edges. Acidity perhaps a bit low. Mineral-laden lingering finish. Seemed to improve over a couple of hours. Very good value. Should improve over the next five years as it gains complexity, but there is no reason it can't be enjoyed now.

Decanted 30 mins before. Tight concentrated and syrupy. Trademark Bordeaux cherry and jam with a hint of toast and honey. Good and distinct finish. Fine drinking wine.

Wonderful nose of black fruits and oak. After 1/2 hour decant, the palate had black fruits, oak, and lots of pencil lead. A little astringent and not as big as I expected. After an hour the fruit opened up a bit more but didn't gain enough weight to avoid disappointment given Parker's review. Decant for 2 hrs for next bottle, or wait a few years.

Blend of 80% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon. Good nose. Notes of blackberry, cassis with hints of oak at finish. Chalky texture. Concentrated and thick wine, dry mid-palate with noticeable but not harsh tannins through out. Very different form other 2009 Red Bordeaux. Not ready yet and is built to age. 14.5% alcohol with slight heat at the end. Relatively low acidity and good length. Tannins yet to soften even on 2nd day, this is probably the most tannic 2009 Bordeaux I have tasted so far. Other than that, other components are fine. So would not surprise me to show up much better 10 years down the road. 91-94 pts.

Dark red. Viscous, brooding big wine that opened up after a few hours. Lots of fruit but hidden behind gripping tannins. Need to very patient with this wine, has years to age before approachable.

With a perfume that seeks attention due to its fresh earth, tobacco, licorice, truffle and black raspberry profile, this concentrated, plush textured, wine ends with a rich, chocolate covered, ripe, cherry and blackberry finish. The hard work from Magali and Thibault Decoster and their consultant, Hubert de Bouard from Angelus as paid off, as this is the best wine yet from Clos de Jacobins.

2009 Clos des Jacobins has a nose filled with mixed berries, anise, smoke, espresso, and fresh herbs. Full bodied, with ample dark pit fruit that fills your mouth before you head into the licorice tinted finish. Hubert de Bouard consults for the property. 91-93 Pts
