Nice Saint-Emillion. At peak. Nice fruit, cassis and red berries, some vanilla and a hint of tobacco. Very smooth all around with a refined finish. Needs at least 30 mins in a decanter prior drinking.

Unremarkable, yet solid. Very capable second bottle after a headline Super Tuscan Opened nicely with 60 min decant. Tannins well resolved and approach is dark ripe plum, pencil lead, barnyard. Finish is fleeting. I wouldn’t pair this with prime rib, but it is a lovely wine.

Vinturied into decant, consumed over several hours. While it started out ripping good, this became slightly disjointed after a couple of hours. I think the oak saturation is over working the grape at this point. This might be slightly past prime as well. I’d drink it up personally. Drink now thru 2022.

I'm a bit astonished at the high quality of this. I had picked up a few cases of <$25 Bordeaux from '09 vintage upon release and this appears to be the best of the bunch. This is frankly better than the '05 Insignia I had the previous night. Lovely intensity of fruit (almost makes me think it's a '10) and lovely dryness on the finish. Great stuff. 93+pts.

Really quite surprising. This wine is drinking really well at the moment with a one hour decant and aeration. Rich and full bodied - redolent with blackberry and tarry accents. long and fleshy finish with a little more new world accents. Still has enough tannins and structure to evolve for another 10 years. need to buy more

Everything was said in my last tasting note. The only thing I would like to add is that it also has an aroma like the water of pickeled veggies. More so in the bouquet than on the palate.

Nose: Dark fruits, oranges, vanilla, cedarbox but very much in harmony. Mouth: Red currents, too. I like the tartness. Medium to full bodied. The tannins aren't offensive at all. An alcohol spike that I don't like. A hint of bitterness in the finish. A bit hollow. Medium length. The nose is highly delicious and the mouth a bit less so. At the peak of its evolution and to drink within the next 2 years. The half full bottle has improved after having spent some days in the fridge (vacuumed). Hence 2 points up.

A modern right bank, with big extracted tannins and fleshy fruit and notable oak signature. Black fruit profile. As this has aged the structure has come forward, and maybe the oak influence as well and potentially it has lost some nuance. Everything in its right place, but with the modern touch won't be for everyone and I'm enjoying it a bit less than 3yrs ago. Approachable now not sure if aging this will reveal a better wine. This is my last bottle so I won't know.

Enjoyable fruits and tannins on the first night. Smoke and cedar round this out, though it was rough around the edges. I didn't get to try it on the second night, but on the third the overt fruit had faded and it was drinking its best. I'm waiting another couple years before opening the next one.

375ml 2 hours decant. Similar to most other TNs, loaded with fruits (vintage specific? house style?) follows by rustic earthiness, smoke, roast. Medium+ body and finish. Finish has slight bitterness, which was welcoming. Not the most complex wine, but I think everything is here, with balance slightly tilted to the sweet side...perhaps fruits will fade with some more cellaring. Very pleasant tasting wine from St Emilion

Rather muted with its dark, roasted coffee and plum sauce flavors and dense structure. There is a lack of lift and freshness in this otherwise excellent Saint Emilion. Sadly, the same was the case with the 2005 and the 2010. Maybe this is just a baby and we have disturbed the peace.

This continues to improve. More acidity and liveliness than the last one I had. There is a surprising sweetness here. It has some dustiness and mineral and earthy tones that give away the fact that it's right bank..Surprisingly approachable now. Not sure if more time in the bottle will be of any benefit.

Nose: Fruit jelly made of red berries like red current and cherries. Spices. Good expressive and fresh nose. Mouth: Consistent with the nose. 14% alc. and unfortunately you can feel it. Very good Bordeaux but a bit hollow and too alcoholic. Drink now or in the next 6 years. I don't think that this wine will benefit from more cellaring but of course it will still hold up well in the next couple of years.

Needs a lot of air and time. Still getting new oak on the nose but much less than last bottle. Very fruity for old world wine, with typical earthy, dusty, cedary notes I usually get with Bdx. I can only seeing this getting better. No etoh, tannins significant, nothing off putting.

Decanted for one hour. I will do two hours next time. This is a very good wine for the $ It is just likeable. A unique profile. Dark cherry and violets on the nose. Maybe chocolate and cedar chips. The wine is full bodied with fine tannins. I will give this some more time in the cellar. Could be a 92-93

Just had to try some cheaper '09 Bordeaux since all the rest will have to age at least another decade. This wine is too young, but already had a great nose and length on the finish. Decanted it for 2+ hours. Will try not to touch for couple years.

Already showing a bit better than the two previous bottles I've had - more evolved and complete now, though still needs more time. Nice fruit. There is a somewhat unusual grassy tone to the wine, perhaps some red brick too. Quite pleasant though simple.

This has lost it's youthful exuberance and appears to have started to shut down. Still some purple plum fruit, but fine grained tannins are prominent. Still has a little bitterness on the back end from the prominent oak, but overall I'm much more optimistic this will age well over the medium term. Drink soon or plan to hold.

- Brick color with slow forming legs and aromas of blackberry, cherry and black pepper. It's balanced and has flavours of blackberry, black currant and tobacco with a medium/full body. Round texture with a long finish - Slight blueberry nose. Young, cellar another 10-15 years. Better on 2nd and 3rd night.
Slight Mahogany finish.

This is a delicious '09 right bank bdx. Plum and crushed rock on the nose. Palate is lush and opulent, with ripe forward plum and berries, but fresh and with great purity. Fine tannins in the background. Moderate mocha on the finish with a bit of heat. Certainly shows the vintage, but is very tasty. Modern in style and ripeness. Will it age? I have no idea... 90-91 On night 2 I was quite surprised by the transformation. Spicy oak dominates the nose and palate, with coarse tannins underneath. Amazing how the fruit receded. Definitely pop and pour if having now. 88

Too oaky for me. Fruit was ripe with tobacco hints but just more oak than I'm interested in. Maybe it'll be a wonderful bottle with some years to rest but I'm concerned. Tannic but not distracting or surprising. Might consider buying a few at this price point to see how it develops. Day 2 - oak resolved, red fruit still prominent. Much nicer. Tannins smoother. Drank next to '09 lilian ladouys (day1) which comparatively speaking was much oakier. +1.

Subtle Dark fruit at first, nice oak and spice, strong tannins, balanced finish. Let breath for a while to get the full value of the fruit. Good dry bottle, putting a few away for a few years 09 vintage bdx is exceptional.

Similar to my last tasting, eight months ago. Dark garnet color; purple on the rim. Still quite precocious, has not closed up at all. Aromas and flavors of black cherry, blackberry, violets, a touch of graphite, spice. Seems softer and more velvety than eight months ago. Rich, full bodied and good fruit concentration in the mouth. Doesn’t seem to have the acidic sting from tannins, as I last recall. A decent finish. This time it pairs quite well with grilled lamb chops. Too bad I didn’t buy more.
Dark color, very powerful nose - dark fruit, spice, oak, leather, cassis. Took a long time, three or four hours, to really open up, and even then there was a bit of heat and drying tannins. Lots of fruit though, and nice mineral notes. Good finish. Think this may improve a bit down the road; seems a little disjointed at this stage. If drinking now, give it plenty of air.

Popped and poured and followed over a couple of hours. Floral delicate nose of chalk/saline, plum and lavender(?). Palate shows fleshy ripe dark fruit, with nice poise and energy. Fine prominent tannins in the background. Finishes with flint, earth and some dark currants. Very nicely put together with good concentration and freshness. Should be very nice bdx in about 10yrs. Might close down given all the tannins underneath.

Quite spicey. Like a few other '09s Ive had so far, this is surprisingly drinkable now but will obviously benefit from more time. It feels somewhat unformed and unresolved right now, so it's a shame to drink it this early.

needing some time to open up. suggest a multihour decant nose - blackberries and oak mouth - restrained yet juicy dark berry, undeniably ripe but at no point sloppy, with good minerality reminding me of a Château La Gaffelière. Nice acidity on the crisp finish. Would like to try again with some age, has promise.

Hot on the nose. Jammy, blackberry fruit bomb with green oak on the finish. In all truth, not that different from some of the 2009 Premier Crus tasted at UGC in January. Maybe it's too soon to be drinking, or maybe these 2009's are just too sweet. Perfectly fine for the price point ($20).

Consumed over 2 days. I'm not sure how to evaluate this wine at this stage. Very tightly wound with graphite and tannins being dominant. There fruit is copious and primary at this stage showing very dark and concentrated berry and spice with some ash (presumably from the oak treatment, but it is not woody at all). Well balanced. There is some enjoyment to the wine now, but this should get better down the road (perhaps many years from now).

Inky dark garnet color; non-transparent next to light. Really precocious at this early stage. Aromas of violets, black cherry, blackberry and a slight touch of graphite. Rich and concentrated in the mouth. The tannins are somewhat soft; just a slight tannic sting on the tongue and back palate. Nice finish. I evaluated the wine, and then paired it with baked pompano, diced with some Cajun spices - believe it of not, it was a decent pairing; both food and wine were still appreciable. Will buy some more bottles of this decently priced wine.

Enjoyable fruits and tannins on the first night. Smoke and cedar round this out, though it was rough around the edges. I didn't get to try it on the second night, but on the third the overt fruit had faded and it was drinking its best. I'm waiting another couple years before opening the next one.

There's a surprising sweetness here. Slightly spicy on the finish; nice for the price.

The wine has improved over the last 6 months. Decanted and drank over two hours. Still fresh and young.

Medium to full. Spicy - cloves, some vanilla and dark berries although the spice is dominating. Relatively dry, but a very nice Bordeaux!

This is a very good wine for the $
It is just likeable.

Dark fruit- (plum, blackberry) and softer tannins. Still young but showing some signs of earth, pencil box, graphite. Still has long storage life ahead

Pretty darn good after a 3-4hr decant.
It kept evolving until the end..

Good, but not great. Better than most ~$25 Bordeaux blends but nothing memorable. I disagree that it will improve much with age... Would drink in the next 5 years.

On night 2 I was quite surprised by the transformation. Spicy oak dominates the nose and palate, with coarse tannins underneath. Amazing how the fruit receded. Definitely pop and pour if having now. 88

Sweet but strong juice. Dark fruit, cherry, tobacco, nose of earth. Dark color, a few more years in the cellar won't hurt this well structured vintage.

It feels somewhat unformed and unresolved right now, so it's a shame to drink it this early.

nose - blackberries and oak
mouth - restrained yet juicy dark berry, undeniably ripe but at no point sloppy, with good minerality reminding me of a Château La Gaffelière.
