Dark purple. Blueberry, oak spice, and earth nose. Medium bodied, boysenberries, blackberries, white pepper, smooth tannins, leather, good acid, dark chocolate, and a medium to long sappy finish. Much better than when I first drank this 12 years ago.

This can easily go much longer. Drinking nicely right now with bottle bouquet starting to emerge, but I think there is more to come. Well balanced. Tastes floral but not much on the nose.

Really elegant, starts off a bit austere but blossoms after an hour of air. Smoothed out tannins, dark fruit, hints of tertiary aromas, but still plenty of life left. No hurry to drink, but a solid wine right now!

Opened this bottle since I have plenty to check in on status. No detailed notes, but this was pretty good. Notes of blueberry and bramble, medium plus tannin, medium acid, mid length finish. Decent balance, but a little lacking on fruit on the nose and palate. I was hoping for more. I don't necessary see it getting better, but I'll hold my remaining since I'm not in a hurry.

Beautiful blackberry and red fruit nose, dark fruit blackberry blueberry medium tannic grip and good acid. This bottle was singing tonight and i'm not really a PS fan.

I think this wine might be going through a "dumb" phase right now. Fruit is completely muted, nearly non-existent. I got slight hints of cranberry and blackberry, but it's all just very faint. Hardly any aromatics, certainly not the floral/spice notes I've found in previous bottles. Not much else to say about it. It just seems completely shut down, so much so that the tannins are barely making any impact. Revisited it periodically throughout the evening and again over the next couple of days, but it just never opened up. In fact, it hardly budged, even after being open that long. Will probably bury the rest of my bottles in the cellar for a nice loooong snooze. I'd probably give this a 78 right now, but I'm confident that it'll come around again once the dumb phase is over.

Wine tasting party! Decanted for three hours before serving, totally bamboozled the group. General opinion was that the wine is well-made but really caters to a certain palate. I think this needs years more in the bottle.
Balanced ripe cherry, currant, and blackberry with clove and leather. Not as fruit forward as Ty's. Well integrated and drinking nicely as a pop and pour. Typically I decant PS - not needed this time. Looking forward to Day 2 with steak tips.
Medium bodied, smooth, moderate tannins, dark red fruit, plenty of acid. Tart and a little light right now, I'll hold on to my other bottle a while to see how it develops and plan on drinking it with food.

Purple color, not quite as dark as I expected, but completely opaque. Initial impressions: restrained bouquet with tart fruit on the palate. Nice mouthfeel and tannins on the finish. After decanting, though, the tartness was just overwhelming (and not pleasantly so). Now on day two, the wine is significantly improved. Honestly, I don't know how to rate the bottle.

a much more classically-styled PS, not at all a fruit bomb. 13.5% and with a lightness, finesse, and elegance that make it a pleasure to drink with and without food. nose of candied red and dark fruit but without being sweet, with hints of the same on the palate as well as a bit of creaminess before a light finish with some pleasant trailing bitterness. good value at $35 (local retail price)? no. but if you can find it for $25 then you owe it to yourself to give it a try. I'm interested to try the 2008 when my order comes in.

It's purple! Nice n easy open dark fruit. Big tannins on finish. Cellar for a decade or two. I'm not huge on PS, and it's the variety style that there's not enough life on the palate compared with his CF or even his CS to warrant drinking this young, unless you're a PS fanatic. Lay down, and enjoy it old. Fine tasters (including rpm) say this is outstanding. I'm not enough of a PS fan yet to be able to judge that. But it's very well made, and of course beautifully balanced, this being KR.

Fabulous Petite Sirah! I call this the Cabernet-lover's Petite Sirah because it drinks like a Cab.It's full of dark fruit, huge bouquet, long lingering finish. Absolutely terrifc!

Purchased at winery, popped and poured and drank with dinner. Dark purple color. Somewhat subdued on the nose with some black and blue fruit coming through. Lighter and less intense on the palate than you would expect from a PS and I was surprised to see the abv at 13.5%. Smooth and enjoyable on the palate with ripe dark fruit flavors and a touch of spice and oak. This style of PS lent itself to be a very nice food wine but overall I think it was a poor QPR.

Quite a bit lighter than I'm used to in a PS, but perfectly balanced, quite complex, and very good.

Midnight purple. Tight blueberry nose. Full bodied, plums, blackberry, oak, tannic, slightly acidic, dry finish. Probably too young to really enjoy.
