Very true to the house style with precise and pure fruit with concentration that is just at Grand Cru levels. In a late peak with modest amounts of complexity.

Excellent wine in its prime drinking window. Floral bouquet, mineral driven palate with great balance. Got a bit round over time, so may not have a ton of time left. But was fantastic tonight. Was probably a 93.5.

Rich and ripe apple with some toasted almond and lemon curd. Very good concentration. Bits of earth emerging in the background. I’d suggest this best to enjoy over the next 3-5 years.

HDH auction tasting at Tru; 9/14/2017-9/16/2017 (Chicago, IL): Served double-blind, but from a Burgundy enthusiast. Huge amount of reduction on the nose. A fair touch of ripeness here, with some sweeter white fruit on the palate. Easily called this as white Burgundy, and I was thinking this was the 2012 Bonneau de Martray.

Corton-Charlemagne at the Lieu-dit Cru Annual(ish) Blind White Dinner (The Bristol - Chicago IL): Served blind in flight. An absolute star tonight, one of my favorites of the evening, certainly the best in the flight. Lush and powerful, while also showcasing elegant textural, minerally nuance. Concentrated fruit and overall flavors with charming, engaging Asian spice notes. Good now, with upside from here.

At a perfect drinking point. Still retain a lot of freshness and acidity, adding a touch of softness from the cellaring. I would have preferred a more compelling palate, deeper, fuller, longer aftertaste. It remains to simple to be a cote d'or grand cru

Gary's Belated Birthday Dinner (Paris Club - Chicago IL): Also popped and poured, this would have benefited from some air. Lots of orchard fruit on nose and palate, still showing a touch of pronounced new oak. Good acidity and minerality, particularly from middle to finish, gives lots of lift. Better in another year or three.

Burgundy Dinner at John and Jen's (River North - Chicago, IL): A really good showing. Rich and forward, this had a beautiful fruit profile with nice toasty, and flinty notes. The fruit had a crystalline focus to it - but was also approachable and inviting. This was a great surprise as the only other vintage of this I have tried (2010) was less exciting.

Started out with quite a bit of volatile acidity and took nearly 2 hours to get started. But it is a very nice and very fresh wine. I believe it will come round in 4-6 years and have at least ten years left.

Drank over 4 hours. Very impressive. Open nose of oak, honey, butter, some citrus. Deep and creamy on the palate. Long finish with a nice minerality. I was surprised how good this was and how approachable it is give the age. A buy.

Rousseau Clos St Jacques and Corton-Charlemagne Dinner (Sepia - Chicago IL): Floral and nicely spiced, combining fresh and mature orchard fruit. Rich and fleshy, this is still fresh enough. Drink within in the next 3-5 years.

Now quite mature! No evidence of oxidation! However suggest drink up.
Do not think it will improve from here!

Golden. Highly floral nose. Forward taste and aromatics approach New World style. Rich but focused. Great depth and complexity.
