Another 2009 success for Lafon this wine opened with a pure green gold colour with a little deepening of the colour. The nose was bright and pure with Nashi pear, white nectarine and touches of grapefruit and pineapple. The palate has lovely purity of fruit with medium weight and density leading into a finish of buttered honey toast and hazelnuts. There is good grip and minerality making this a perfect example of high quality village Meursault.

Honey scents, nectar flavours and a deep amber colour. Not too mineraly with less chewy tannins than the 2018. More refined and buttery. What was most impressive about this wine was that it paired beautifully with some dry age reverse sear tomahawk. The fullness of the lafon was a great compliment to the tomahawk's fat and texture

Another lovely showing for this wine. Again, you have to double-check the label...this is a 2009? It does not show any of the presumed negatives of 2009 white Burg - it is not overripe, fat, or acid deficient. In fact, it has gorgeous chalky minerals, zippy acid, and delicious fruit all knitted into a supremely enjoyable package. Had this with a duck and radicchio salad - really excellent.

Rich but not overripe nose of pear and hazelnut. Fleshy on the palate without showing excess weight, with orchard fruit flavors, nice cut, and zesty minerality. Although not generally a fan of the vintage, the 2009 Clos de la Barre is quite nice. Drink now through 2030.

This was just booming. Great mineral on the nose and palate. Great fruit, but no tropical elements. Just marvelous apple and pear flavors. Had this alongside Lafon's 2009 negociant Meursault village - both wines showed extremely well (and surprised me as I'm not a big fan of 2009 white Burg...too ripe in many cases). Excellent young white Burg here!

Vertical wine tasting of Meursault Clos de la Barre by Domaine des Comtes Lafon.
Meursault wines are highly regarded as those of Puligny-Montrachet, despite not having any Grand Cru vineyards to speak of.
Very elegant, expressive wine. Seductive aromas of white flowers, some oak, supported with beautiful acidity. Well structured on the palate. 2009 vintage is good, healthy and high quality maybe on a par with 90, 92, 02. Warm conditions and fairly large yields have given balanced grapes.
Removed from a 56 degree active cellar and brought to Harvest BYOB. Pored a nice medium golden color with silver accent. No signs of premox on the nose / palate. Rich bouquet of honeysuckle, sea kelp, lemon curd, chamomile, and some grapefruit pith. Medium on the palate with refined minerality and subdued oak influence. Taste of lemon oil, ginger, and minerals on the palate. A more refined and stony rendition of Meursault which works well here. More nuance emerged the more the wine warmed to room temperature. Paired with prawns in a jalapeño and cauliflower quinoa that worked wonderfully. The wine is ready to go now....but should maintain its essence for several years. VG

From memory. @Tan Dinh, Paris. No decant. Found this surprisingly accessible. On the nose, ripe sitrus, white flowers, crushed rocks, some oak, with hints of tropics and nuts. Rich yellow fruit, some tropics, good minerality and still fresh. Oak sufficiently integrated. Should still have room for improvement. 90-91p.

Nice color. The nose shows rich aromas of lemon curd, white flowers, minerals, almond and a touch of oak. This is medium bodied on the palate with very good concentration and substantial class. The fairly long finish features a mineral element. Pure.

La Paulee de NY - Verticals Tasting (Rainbow Room - NYC): Tasted at large walkaround tasting. I quite liked this. Integrated oak with toast, butter sitting on top of ripe fruit, spice, and mineral. Still, this maintains a nice balance. Med(+) finish is great.

La Paulée de New York: Vertical Tasting (Rainbow Room - New York NY): Tasting, brief note. The most flashy of the vertical. Rich pear, peach and hazelnut. This flaunts its ripeness without being overdone. The most tasty of the vertical for now, but I'd rather have the 2008 or 2007 for the cellar.

93 points.

Coravin Pull #1 - Side by side with the Louis Michel Vaudesir. The color is straw and clear. The nose on this is a little restrained compared to the Vaudesir. In the mouth this is far better than the nose...this one is mouth coating with a beautiful long finish that causes the mouth to salivate after it has left. I love that sensation. The only nit at this point is the nose isn't as intoxicating as the Vaudesir. Really good though.

Rich nose, stone fruit, lime, apples, flowers, slightly creamy. Very pungent and fresh on the palate, good fruit - citrus notes, tart apple. Slightly saline, very clean and focussed, but a little lean. Long finish.

LGDV. Second time in a month. Both times this has been great. 2009 seems to be a good year for Lafon. The Clos de ls Barre shows a fairly big nose, with broad notes of wood, spice, butter and seaweed. On the palate it is very well balanced, with a really nice, fresh acidity, untypical for 2009.

Some spicy food interfered with my tasting ability but I could tell this was a light, delicate, well balanced wine that only with time and warming showed its Meursault character. Surprisingly, this lieu-dit of Lafon needs more time, unlike many Premier Crus from other producers.

Rich, ripe, intense and slightly exotic but a wine of good restraint. The fruit is loud but just stops short of shouting and whilst acidity is only moderate there is a big lick of minerality, as there is always in the better 09 whites.

I've had several examples of this wine before and the 2009 did not disappoint. Classic Meursault aromas soars from the glass upon pouring. On the palate, this was intense and rather full-bodied for a villages and had acidity in spades despite the ripe vintage. Great presence and authority coats the mid-palate and culminates in a long, long finish. Any oak treatment was barely discernible. Very classy and definitely a wine of pedigree. After an hour of so this wine totally shut down and that was the end of any enjoyment from it at this stage, but bodes well for aging. Easily of 1er Cru quality and would merit a higher rating in time to come. Excellent.

La Paulée de San Francisco 2012 (San Francisco, CA): Minerally nose with French oak; bit of an aroma of a winemaker's cave; neutral and closed up. Palate is searingly acidic, almost bilic. Will likely require time to calm down. The residual aroma in the glass was great, and promising.
