Ullaged bottle. Had that Mouton structure that I saw in the '75 alongside it but this had some sweetness and I wonder if they chaptalised given the War had only been over for a few years and still recovering? Had palate elements of vegetal decay, forest floor interestingly - a bit of mushroom. Significant volatile acidity. The oldest Bordeaux I have ever tasted at 72 years young(old). Agreeable.

Brownish-red color with soft edges. Interesting nose, overripe berries and spices. Fine light red fruit and a nice acidity on the palate, some sweet caramel and cinnamon too. Needs a few minutes to open up and after that the drinking window is very short. After 30 minutes it began to loose intensity and became more mushy. Excellent bottle this time - had a different bottle last time (88/100). Definitely at the far end of its drinking window but interesting to try and see how fast this changes its taste.

Started out absolutely fantastic reminding me of my grandparents old stone pine house. Slight sweetness made for a very harmonious wine. Unfortunately it did not develop well under air with musty smells becoming more pronounced later.

1950s Bordeaux from Elke (Bad Neuenahr): Pop’n’poured, that was a good decision as the wine was stunning - absolutely stunning - early on but after about 30 minutes in the glass it slowed down. Cinnamon, smoky, sweet, oak, caramel, red curry paste, so funky and beautiful. Annd most of all just a lot of fun to drink!

Cellar Devils with Jeff Leve; 10/23/2018-10/24/2018 (Berens am Kai 1 star Restaurant): Drank blind feels more aged than the Pichon same vintage. But after 20-30 minutes it gets more elegant and precise. The malty notes disappear. At the beginning the finish gets a little bit short but after a while it gets more concentrated. Still intact acidity structure. Compared to the Pichon it is less fresh and dense but a nice grip in the late palate. 95

Not a fully correct bottle, the aromatics were off. The show took place on the exotically textured palate that blended Asian spices, tobacco leaf and red fruits. There is no reason to age this any longer, if you are lucky enough to be sitting on a bottle.

Missing the quality of the Latour '50, still a Mouton, with a 'très' cabernet style in bouquet and taste, balanced, no power, residual sugar from chaptalisation, modest, but nice aftertaste.

Mouton-Rothschild Tasting (Kronenschlösschen, Eltville): Somewhat attractive buttery nose, but awful on the palate with a staunch taste of medicine. So bad.
