Fruit is fast fading, leaving acid, a little bit of green, and some slightly bitter tannins. Doesn't sound appealing, but it was actually quite delicious, especially if you are into the acid (i.e., it still lively and interesting). The flavors are a bit contrarian at this point, but again, may be great depending on your perspective. The vintage really shines through more than ever. Cellar temps for best result.

Medium bodied, moderate spice, low fruit profile - need to drink the ret we have quickly. This matches what we paid for it. Paired with spare ribs, can afford to put this next to spicier pairings.

Without the rocks and hint of leather this would be too fruity, but add those components and it's very enjoyable. Drinking wonderfully right now. Finish by end of year.

PnP served non-blind. Consistently solid (and versatile) food (i.e. bistro style) wine; really should be consumed this year - simply no structure for anything beyond that. Solid at $10, but would come up way short at $20. 14% abv, drink thru 2013

Slow-O 1 hr. Working through my second case of this garrigue-filled lovely. Brilliant acids float ripe (phenolically) red and black fruits along a firm tannic river. For the price point (or twice the price point, for that matter) the nose is stunning, the palate, equally up to the task Brilliant stuff, and glad to have another 8 in the cellar. A more noble cellar defender I have yet to find. 14,0% abv, drink thru 2014. Someone knew WHEN to pick.
update: night #2 is nearly the opposite of #1, with just about all of its energy and character missing in action. Soft, medium-bodied, lifted, but completely uninspired - just not enough fruit. My third time seeing how this does past the first night, and it's consistently an underachiever on the second night.

Great QPR at $8 - thanks lastbottle! Light, fruity, and refreshing, but with enough of a mineral finish and tannic backbone to keep me interested. Glad we went in for a case, because I am reaching for this stuff on nights that don't warrant opening something nicer.

Given as a gift from a friend, decanted for about 30 minutes prior to first sip; drank over 24 hour period. This is all black peppercorn and brambles...which are two things I happen to love. Medium bodied...soft and velvety in the mouth but with enough acid to pair well with most foods. The next day, the alcohol was more pronounced but still drank nicely. A really well made wine and remarkable for the money. I wouldn't hesitate to pick some up. Should have the stuffing to be a great drink over the next 3 years.

Not sure I've found a better bottle for $8. Great everyday drinker. Nothing spectacular but really solid QRP. Bought a case to give as holiday gifts for co-workers and want to keep it all for myself. Drinks like a bottle in the mid to high teens.

Starts with nice spicy fruit and then goes sort of flat, lacking any acidic pop. The spice notes expand with air time, but the wateriness continues. Not sure there is much life left in these, but for $8 it is mildly enjoyable. Day 2 update. A little better, more pronounced acidity, but still a little watery.

PnP for pizza night. Lovely light-medium ruby core, transitions suggest drink early. Opens with plenty of wood notes - oak, cedar chest, sawdust. A few minutes in the glass and this is all over the place - cherry skin, coffee, iodine, red licorice, even some grilled meat. Medium bodied, with ample acids (that will outlive the fruit tangy, tart raspberry fruit), and a slight tannic frame. Still, the wine chooses to linger a bit, to the extent that it can, and begs for more food. I oblige. 14,0% abv, drink thru 2014, very nice QPR under $12

This wine is a great quaffer. This is no demeaning term; it's simply a reflection of the friendliness of the Grenache component. Good grip and weight, with raspberry that borders on fruit forward until the acidity comes in and brings the wet rock and carries the flavors through a nice flourish. Easy to drink on its own, but very compatible with food.
Recommend drinking over the next year; it's in a very good place right now.

Dark garnet toward ruby core - the Grenache component really adds to the brilliance. Very grapey at first, with subtle complexity slowly developing by the second glass. Black licorice, roasted meat, raspberries, garrigue. The medium+ bodied palate is slightly fruit forward, but it's all kept in check by generous natural acidity and sleek, grippy tannins. I'm glad I bought a case, this is a perfect mid-week, food-friendly, budget-friendly drop. recommended. Drink thru 2014, 14,0% abv, score: B+ (an Eric Solomon wine, 70% Grenache, 30% Syrah)

Picked up plenty of earth and mineral tones with minimal fruit. The alcohol was way out of balance, even after a couple of hours. This made it a bit unpleasant. Perhaps this will come together eventually.
EDIT: now having had a couple of these, I do think this was an off bottle. The others came together nicely with a peppery zing.
Very nice, especially for $8. Red fruits, green olives, wet rocks and some nice spice elements. Reminiscent of a Merlot-based Vin de Pays I have but this is a bit more concentrated and has slightly less acidity. It should continue to drink well through the end of the year but I would think not much past that.

Pop and pour, emits loads of lively pepper and garrigue. Palate stays right there with us, holding promising fruit to maintain nice balance on this traditionally styled palate. Kind of does the 'citronella' thing on the palate. The syrah really catches some steam in this one. Deep cherry tones and a black tea floral address on the palate. Great QPR at $12, with quite the finish for this price and with some air, this really kicks into quite a chewy, present, but generally med- tannin.

Despite the notes in Parker's review, the bottle states that it is 70% Grenache & 30% Syrah. (He quoted 60/40). This is actually quite good for a Ventoux. I am not typically a fan. Let it breathe 15-20 minutes and you'll get a decent glass of somewhat rustic and quite chewy Rhone wine. For $10, I'm not complaining.

It has a lot of personality -- black pepper, cherry, spice, good body. This is drinking quite well now, and is a treat, at a bargain price.

Popped and poured with dinner. Fruity and quite enjoyable. Good QPR.
