The age of this wine is revealed by the presence of some brown tones in the wine. But the taste of the wine shows nothing tired or thin. Nose filling fruit flavors, firm and drying tannin, and bright acidity. Excellent concentration from nose to finish, while remaining eloquent and delicious.

This was my last bottle. Drank at Joe and Wendy's during the NFC/AFC championships. Had with Joe's homemade pastrami/brisket. This was probably my best bottle of the lot. Who knows maybe it was a perfect pairing.

Served beside a rotating cast of 7 wines with lunch and dinner over days, this $20 Rasteau Grenache repeatedly was one of the favorites both by itself and with food. Opaque with a half inch pour and a ruby edge. Savory aromas of smoked meat, blackberry, and forest floor. Comes smoothly into the mouth, amply structured by bright acidity and tannin without being invasive or oppressive. Delicious raspberry and cherry fruit. Good concentration with nothing tired or old. The enduring fruit and the still firm tannin will keep this wine at least as good for the next 5 years.

Not sure where this wine is going. This bottle was disappointing compared to last. A light and watery quaff. Nothing like my last bottle that had some nice body with an even balance of fruit and spice. Not much fruit left with this one which gives me pause as to hoping this was due to bottle variation and not a true picture of where this wine is going. I will be getting at my last three bottles with greater haste.

Had this wine over two nights. Decanted initially with lots of oak on the nose and palate. Poured remainder back in bottle and sealed. Second night pnp with spinach and bacon salad and pizza. Much better the second night maybe due to the fattier food. Overall very little fruit up front with a lot of oak/cedar throughout. Very average.

Had this bottle last night with some nuts, dried fruits and cheese burgers. A very pleasant floral cherry nose, however that's about where it ends. Deep red/garnet color and medium bodied at best with an initial burst of dark red fruits on the attack leading to a very tart and bitter middle and an uneventful finish. This wine felt out of balance and frankly, was very disappointing. I do not believe that this was a corked bottle. I still have 11 more bottles that I am not looking forward to consuming.

Nothing earth shattering, but well made, tasty, easy-to-drink wine with an old world touch. Excellent QPR at $17. Can't believe this is 15% ABV, it is so smooth on the palate. I will try to find more of this at that price, since I only bought one on a recommendation from LWS owner.

Balanced, red/black fruit, lip-smacking stuff. Not complex, but it tarred and feathered the 2002 Silver Oak Alexander Valley at the table (what's up with all the freakin' American oak?!). Good QPR.

2008 Southern Rhone Reds (Weygandt Wines - Washington, D.C.): this wine stood out at the tasting. it's big, but still balanced and complex. the color is bright purple and the nose is full of earth, spice and black currants. i like the richness and silkiness on the palate. still, it maintains its structure. hints of olive highlight the dark berry fruit. long finish.

Sweet raspberries and menthol counterbalanced with strong herbes de garrigue and black olive notes. This is a really good old-school Cotes du Rhone for drinking over the next couple years. It's not a big Rasteau - don't expect a vin de garde.

This wine seems to be improving and evolving. From a pop and pour this bottle showed nice fruit with hints of earth and spice with a polished finish.

Sharon liked it. Easy drinking. Liked it better than the Amarone.

A nice, smooth french red for under 15 bones, can't beat that! Is ready to drink now and through the next couple of years. Good QPR.
