Jadotfest 2023 (Noizé, London): A great colour, glinting light gold, almost as if just bottled. Smoke, vanilla and spice on the nose, citrus and a mild reduction. Classic white burgundy, couldn't be anything else - I could sniff this for hours frankly but time marches on. On the palate ridiculously youthful, the pristine cork looked eternal, this will go on for years. Totally delicious, sharp and spicy, a little unctuous, but overall a lovely balance of richesse and purity. All sorts of citrus going on but I settled on flavours of orange peel and lime. Crazy length finish persisting long after the wine is gone. This seemed so young, almost too young, but it's unfortunately not the kind of wine that most people, me included, are going to be able to buy a dozen of and watch evolve over many years. The only still white wine of the evening but my WOTN despite some serious competion. A massive treat to be able to taste.

Jadotfest 2023 (Noizé, London): Amazing nose. Screams top, top white Burgundy. Could sniff it for hours. Lime oil, a couple of ppm of passionfruit coulis, a couple of Stroopwafel crumbs. Such pedigree. Palate very youthful for its age but one senses it would be brilliant for many years to come. I don't drink enough Montrachet to be able to place it in the pantheon but this was one of the finest white wines I have tasted. Mine and the table's wine of the night

Annual Jadot (plus Dau) with Frederic Barnier (RPM Steak): 05/06/09 double blind. A powerhouse of a wine with massive fatty, fleshy fruit and good balancing acidity though not quite as precise as the blind 06 side-by-side. I guessed this to be the 2006. At peak now.

Louis Jadot (& Clair-Daü) Dinner with Frédéric Barnier (RPM Steak - Chicago IL): Blind in vertical. Powerful and still compact but with impressive concentration. This gets by on its sheer size and volume since it didn't come across as particularly brightened by acidity, even if nicely minerally. I will err on drinking my remaining bottles over the next few year vs cellaring long-term.

Tasting with Sarah Francis (Coombsville, CA): Popped and poured. Very ripe, powerful and dense. Rich, floral and unctuous to start with lots of maturing orchard fruit with semi-tropical hints. The fruit matured quickly before us in glass, and was much less interesting an hour after opened.

Our second bottle in a few months and once again left us with the same feeling. A solid wine that ticks all the boxes but also fails to impress for the pedigree and vineyard. This time it felt a lot more mineral, firmer more serious wine . Good balance of minerality and ripeness and really this is at the start of its drinking window. 93-94 area

A very difficult wine to rate. On one hand it ticks a lot of boxes, firm, very ripe, good tropical feel, nice citrus fruits. Long and full of depth and really felt like a wine of really old vines. Depth, structure ripeness. On the other hand it kind of fails to really impress to create a high level of excitement. A very solid wine nonetheless. 93

Great Burgundy Dinner (Bavette's - Chicago IL): Only open 15 minutes before serving, this wine kept evolving in fascinating ways in glass. Started out supremely ripe, with lots of stone fruit flavors and aromas and a baked apple richness that was all "2009" and just faintly "Montrachet." While that opulence never disappeared, lots of textural nuance, minerality and lemon zest notes emerged. Best tasted was the final sip 4 hours after opening, and certainly the longest and most complex.

Loaded with minerals and still a bit young (as you would expect) but not too far away from being ready. Lovely wine but not the weight or breed of typical Montrachet.

Drank with Faaf. Fantastic rich but not heavy Montrachet.
