Annual Caroling & Chili Party (R&D's): Our final bottle- a magnum- double decanted off its sediment an hour before the event began. Typical elegant, feminine Wesmar profile which I adore. Cherry, clove and potpourri notes with a subtle hint of earth in the background. Cherry and allspice linger on the finish. Showing beautifully in this format. 92-93 pts.

Medium bricking-purple color, with wild strawberries, rose petal, and citrus on the nose. On the palate, raspberry, potpourri, orange peel, and a light herb note show. Lush flavors with rounded tannins and a medium-long finish.

Surprised at the amount of sediment( a good sign- a wine not too manipulated). Bright ruby red; nose tends to the cinnamon and allspice side; almost a spritzy feel very lively on the palate, great balance; red cherry, raspberry and allspice/clove flavors, medium body, lingering clove finish, just a hint of smoke if you look for it

This is absolutely gorgeous right now. Some brick red in the color now. The nose on this wine is explosive and compelling, bright red and black cherry fruit supported by classic Russian River baking spice and a background floral note. In the mouth, pure, juicy cherry fruit, with earthy and spicy notes. Good acidity and a long, fine finish. Compelling and delightful. A-/A

Tasted at winery with Denise. Looking at my inventory, I can't believe I've blown through all of my bottles already, as this is in a great spot right now. Red and black cherry with cinnamon and spice. Wish I had more.

Pop and pour, open for business from the start. Nice red raspberry, a bit of tart cherry, and some cinnamon and baking spice. For an RRV pinot, I'd call this light with great acidity. Drinking great right now.

Classic WesMar. Addictive, aromatic nose of classic RRV Pinot: black cherry, baking spice, and a hint of flowers. In the mouth, smooth and refined, with forward cherry fruit that's complemented by spice and floral notes and a bright spike of acidity. Smooth finish. A delightful wine. A-

Popped one hour before first pour, consumed over 3 hours. Nose: Expressive scent of cinnamon, cola, Asian spice, black cherry and raspberry - typical WesMar magic. Palate: Light to medium bodied with sweet dark red fruit and spice up front which carries nicely through the mid-palate, shows just a few slight rough edges in the back-end which is very forgivable when considering all the other goodness here. Finish: Medium-plus length sense of red fruit, spice and cinnamon.

Always a great representation of the WesMar style, the 2008 is no exception. Black cherry color. Aromatically beautiful, with bursting black cherry and blackberry fruit, along with a good dose of baking spice. In the mouth, juicy and balanced, with a very forward and early drinking profile. The fruit is delicious, supported by enough complexity and acidity to keep things focused and interesting. Strong finish. A-

You probably can't do much better in an appellation blend. I am certain this would outshine many other's single vineyard offerings. Impressive nose with bright red fruit including candied cherries and spice elements. Palate offers a smooth entry that carries red berries, forest floor and spices. Lithe and easy going with a nice, seamlees move to the finish. Sweet fruit throughout with moderate acidity.

A subtle nose of red fruit with hints of spice but fairly restrained. Beautiful bright red color in the glass gives a preview of the purity within. The flavors are predominately red fruit with a bit of red raspberry, red cherry and traces of strawberry. The spice moves from the aroma into the palate and I continue to be amazed at the complexity in every WesMar wine. This appellation blend holds its own compared to many single vineyard offerings. Elegant but full of flavor.

Popped and vinturied, consumed over 3 hours. Nose: Initially a little muted (by typical WesMar standards), by hour two expressive scents of cola, cinnamon, Asian spice, pine needles, and candied red fruit - cherry/raspberry. Palate: Nice balance, good acid, cherry cola, and spice flavors carry through to the back-end, finishes with just slight harshness on the edges - which detracts little from the lengthy 30+ second finish.

Nose: Stemmy, peppery action immediately noticeable. Turkish spices, hint of licorice, and back there, behind the non-fruit characteristics are strawberries, cherries, and orange marmalade. Palate: Sweet, sugary, spiced berries on the attack, with the flavor profile cutting right down the middle of the bright/dark berry spectrum. Sappy, stemmy elements join the fleshy tannins on the mid-palate. I was hoping for a little more acidity here but it never materialized. Raspberries and syrupy cherries linger on the finish.
Stemmy, sappy, a little syrupy... these are the descriptors that come to mind before I really start thinking about the fruit, which isn't the order I'd like to see things on such a young wine. What's there is good now though... so I'll likely drink these all within the year.

Opened not decanted. Just received the Spring mailer and thought I would open to see if I wanted to buy more. Slight candy and licorice on the nose. Watermelon juice in color in the glass. Dry raspberry, red licorice, ends with a dry citrus with some earth on the finish. Good.

Decanted 30 minutes and consumed over 3 hours. Nose: Very expressive scents of raspberry and strawberry with pine forest and cinnamon in the background – typical dynamic WesMar nose. Palate: Great mouth feel, light to medium bodied, with nice ripe creamy red fruit flavors. Finish: Medium length, red fruit flavors with just a little tartness that mellowed with time.
