  • 2011 Cristom Pinot Noir Mt. Jefferson Cuvée

When I opened this I was, at first, disappointed. Immediately out of the bottle this is not, at first, a good wine. However after an hour it opened up and was very enjoyable. This tasting note reflects what I thought of the wine after it opened up. Clear, pale ruby intensity. ON the nose, med intensity with notes of ripe strawberry, cranberry, sweet spice, toast. A hint of petulance. Developing. Dry, Med+ acidity, Med- body, low fine grain tannins, Med+ alcohol, Med intensity, More raspberry on the palate with cranberry and spice. hint of toast. Med finish. A good, well balanced wine. I do not think there is much more room for improvement though I do think it will continue to drink well for a few more years.

  • 2007 Château Giscours

Clear in appearance, garnet with watery rim. On the nose-med intensity with dark fruit, touch of vanilla and a hint of pencil shavings. On the palette this carries through though with med- intensity, med- alcohol...you get the picture. I got the impression that this wine has peaked-there is not much room for further development and overall I was disappointed. The finish was short and there was a hint of greenness that was slightly off-putting. If you have this I suggest you drink up. If you do not I think there are better wines for the same price.

  • 2010 Chanson Père et Fils Chablis 1er Cru Montmains

Pale Lemon in colour. Medium intensity on the nose with lemon/lime and a faintest hint of dairy, a generous minerality. The nose carries through on the palate but with a more developed lemon sorbet and more pronounced creaminess. Dry, Light bodied, pronounced acidity, med- alcohol, med+ Intensity. Long finish. Still developing with a few more years to go but great right now. Highly recommend if you can find it.
