Ok, compared to the other notes my point score might seem excessive, but I thought this wine was stunning! Nose was a bit muted; minerals, floral, a touch of wood, a hint of baked apple. On the palate it was exceptional; silky, voluminous, ripe flavors of lemon, slate. The finish was a great combination of sweet fruit and dry crispness. Loved it.

Bought 3 375ml bottles at auction. Everyone of them showed brilliantly over the course of 4 months. Yesterday's bottle was no exception. A nose of leather, cedar, fresh earth. Nicely ripe on the palate with flavors of black fruits, that roasty/earthy mourvedre element, a touch of funk. Finished fresh and with good grip. Really nice.

PnP. First glass I thought someone had put a teaspoon of sugar in it. It was so sweet. This dissipated over an hour or so to reveal a very polished CdP. Cherries, raspberries on the nose with a touch of volatility. The palate was full bodied, rich, silky, pure with an herbal/eucalyptus note along with the red fruits. Finish was bright with some grip, tannins mostly resolved. It hid its 15.5% alcohol well, but always came across a tad too sweet for me.

11/30/2020 11:12:00 AM - I’ve been following labels more than vintage the past few years. Agreed it’s nice to follow a maker that you know and whose style you like.
11/30/2020 9:17:00 AM - Thanks for your comment WD. I struggle at times with patience, but years ago we made a strategic trade-off where we narrowed the number of labels we held in our cellar to go deep enough with labels we enjoy to follow them over an extended period of time. Also traveling to Napa 1-2x/year for 25 years, we've developed some relationships that give us access to people/experiences that are worth the trade-off. That being said, perusing your notes reminds me of the need to periodically bring in some one-off French reds to keep my palate in check!
