Wildflowers and lemon zest on nose, lemon and candied grapefruit with somewhat rich texture. Amazingly youthful. Would have said this was four or five years old. Med+ acid. Alcohol showed higher than the listed 13%.

This is special. Lemon zest, grapefruit, slate, med+ acid, med+ finish. Slightly reduced on open but was extremely fragrant after a couple minutes. Like a white burgundy on steroids with some white peach and a faint trace of iodine. If this and the chard the Varner brothers are producing is indicative of the kind of chard this appellation can produce I hope more vines get planted up there.

Shows little signs of its age. Smoke, tar, charred leather on nose. Faint background component of violets. Rich black fruit (for old world wine), cassis, med acid, mouth drying tannins. Med+ complexity but tannins still masking complexity. Don't know if they will ever get out of the way, but this is very enjoyable. Not worth breaking the bank in a restaurant for, but the pedigree is clear from the beginning. This wine will keep for a long time. It may not improve but there's no need for urgency.
