Extremely bright and fresh with lovely framboise and strawberry confit fruit. Sweet herbs and playful acidity are supported by an almost gossamer tannin. Really lovely and energetic.

Paired tonight with Pork porterhouse, broccoli rabe, polenta and caramelized onions. Really generous right after a quick decant; prune, plum, cassis and lavender up front followed by a bit of Bacon and fig with a kiss of Cerignola olive & sage garrigue. A nice blackberry and pipe tobacco finish that lingered on.

After a two hour decant notes of plum, black currant cordial, menthol, cherry molasses & fresh tilled earth emerge from the glass.
The palate is rich with umami and more ripe blue/black fruit. Tannins are like fine sandpaper and the finish lasts over 2 minutes. I don’t find this wine in the least funky though there is a textural component that is a little off on its own.
With a pork chop, swiss chard & a ragout of beans the wine shows much more elegance and finesse.
