Very good, still developing. I've been fortunate to watch this one grow up since its release and today's performance is yet another data point to the success of this wine. The nearly full-bodied palate is deep and broad, with cool acidity, round, ripe tannins and avg+ length already. Dried herbs, red/dark red fruits, some savory, a bit of licorice, etc.; delicious. I thought I had a few more in the cellar, but CT says no. In a great place now, and likely to drink well for another decade or more based on this showing. 14,5% abv. For its full potential, it's highly recommended
Vintage after vintage, this wine (and its riserva variant) is a favorite of mine. Flavors of melted licorice, prunes, tar, and sandalwood. Thick and mouth coating, with big tannins, but not harsh in any way. Very Italian, with a classic sensation I describe as “savory acidity.” This tastes world class. And I figure it will continue to improve over the next five years.
All of this before considering the price: just $40.

Perfect pairing for moroccan homemade dishes (Jo/Bob) with tons of tannins for this vintage, overall full bodied but well balanced. Fortunately I have three more.

Restaurant bottle, decanted for 45-60 minutes. Cigar tobacco, strawberries and black cherries on the nose, with a little earthy funk. (A question of limestone noted early on…)The wine did take over an hour to open up on the nose and palate. A concentrated body with generous fruit and a strong spine of tobacco notes. The finish is very long and mineral. Enjoyed immensely at Wicked Jane, Greenwich Village.
