Way too young, modern style, dark fruits and a bit of earthy smokiness on the nose and palate, a bit of licorice on the finish. I would wait 5 to 7 years before trying again.

Promising for the future, but a bit tight and narrow compared with some previous vintages of this wine (I especially love the '15 and '18 vintages). Along with the usual salty plum notes I detect some smoky gravel notes that will hopefully come out even more with time. This was followed over 3 nights and didn't evolve too much over that time, remaining a bit tannic and high-acid throughout. Good at the table. Rating: 90+

Earthy and dark-fruited; some tannins, but they're not fierce --- this is approachable, despite being in its infancy. Very Pessac-Leognan. Good vintage for this wine, and -- from memory -- better than the '19. Gut impression score: 91 - 92.

Opaque and youthful purple in the glass. This was initially unremarkable. After 1-2 hours aeration it became dominated by intense sour cherry fruit, some earth, gravel, baking spices and pepper (first day). The finish was clean, if somewhat bitter (tea) and tannic. Good potential if these qualities can resolve and strike a balance over time.

The last three vintages of Latour-Martillac have way overperformed their price point, and seem to be getting better each year. Everything in balance here, with classic Pessac flavors of red berries and gravel. While obviously young and unevolved, this is quite pretty and elegant, with a bright core of cherry and red currant fruit, and some tobacco and lead pencil notes. Fantastic value.
