Tarry colored. Smokey, gamey, plenty of bacon notes. The fruit has receded leaving a bit of alcoholic heat in the finish. We probably missed this bottle's peak drinking by several years- the Parker estimate of 2022 was overly optimistic.

Q2 - 2018 Tasting - Aged Washington State Wines (NYC): 7/11 wines tasted double blind. The nose on this was more muted. On the palate seemed mature with resolved tannins with a dominant coffee note coming through along with the dark fruit - I think perhaps it lacked a bit of acidity to brighten it up. 0 pennies voted by me and 2 pennies voted by the group. My first time with this producer - interesting to try.

Q2 2018 Tasting - Aged Washington Wines (The Apt): Wine #7: Fun to get to try this. When I was doing some research around places to go in Washington this wine came up as one of the flagships of the region. This was a bit hotter than some of the others (perhaps the warmer vintage). Touch of funky fruit.

Plenty of fruit on this ripe, big funky Syrah. Edges towards Rocks style funkiness/etherealness, but more focused and acid driven. Great balance. Drinking perfectly now. PDQ94+

Meaty gamey dried fruits but not very complex
