So ripe and sweet, quite different from most '98's I've had recently. Delicious and accessible, developed more complexity and depth with time in the glass. This was a superb showing.

Nicely floral and spicy red fruit on the nose. A bit muddled on the palate with more red fruit, iron and earth. A bit short. Nice, but not at this price.

On its way downhill now. Fruit is fading, color is browning. Cherry has given way to earthy flavors that are more dead leaves than forest floor. No longer ready for prime time.

I was a little disappointed in this wine. It was pleasant enough with medium cherry/currant fruit but the flavors didn't come together all that nicely and there was a slight tart/scratchy component to the taste. I love Leroy but this was probably the least compelling example I have had. To be fair though, it was tasted alongside some terrific other burgs that made it pale in comparison

Deep red color. Nose of red fruits, spice, and flowers. Mid-full palate showing enough to be a good experience - cherry, smoke, red dirt, spice. Continued to open throughout the meal. Good now if you have several, hold further if you're looking for peak performance.
