From memory. Spicy nose, with plenty of anise, nutmeg and other baking spices. Fairly rich mouth. Still reasonably firm in the finish. Mature, but drinking well right now.

Per the back label, with a southeastern aspect its steep terraces cascading from 400 metres altitude to the very edge of the picturesque Pinhão river at only 150 metres, Cavadinha is positioned in one of the most favorable situations in the demarcated Douro region. Forming an important part of Warre's declared Vintage years, in other good years a small quantity of the wine is set aside for bottling after two years in cask. This fruity and deep-coloured wine is now ready to broach but retains a significant maturing potential. Only limited quantities of this crop are available for all world markets. Stand the bottle up for a day or two before decanting and serve in clean, large glasses half-filled.

It was okay but it was much less impressive than expected for a bottle of vintage port aged for 24 years and that cost $69 for a half bottle. Looked and tasted more like a tawny port. Disappointing. Will definitely not buy this vintage again.

This was still quite young for its age. The cork was almost pristene. Nice fruit and sweetness. It opened up later as well.

1990’s Single Quinta Vintage Ports (Sammamish, Washington): Light amber purple in color. Clear. Herbal notes on the nose. Great balanced red fruit on the palate with a nice long finish.
